“I am not sorry to have left Liverpool.”

|

Liverpool full back Emiliano Insua has stated that he needed to get away from Liverpool as he believed Roy Hodgson wouldn’t have given him a chance in the first team this season:

“I’m a young player and I need to play regularly to develop. Galatasaray I believe will give me this chance. I am not sorry to have left Liverpool.”

The Argentine is on loan at the Turkish club until the end of the season and Galatasaray have an option to buy the player if his loan spell is successful.

Do well lad, we are counting on you!

  • Marshy says:

It’s appalling that a talented, young player is allowed to go and is replaced by an average 29 year old. Hodgson wants to surround himself with mediocrity, just look at Poulsen!

  • Martin says:

    Good luck Iusua.

  • Red Barron says:

Listen Emiliano, the truth is mate, we’re not sorry to see you go either! You’re a half decent player but we have had more than enough of your level of player for too long and frankly, and I mean this with respect to you, we need better.

I wish you well in Turkey and hope you have a long and happy career…. just not with us!

  • Red Barron says:

@ Marshy: So is Torres mediocre? RH persuaded him to stay. How about Gerrard? Average at best? I think not nor does RH who again persuaded him to stay. Meireles sure didn’t look mediocre from where I was sitting during the World Cup, pretty impressive I would say, as did RH who bought him in for what could be a bargain £11.5m. He knew Aquilani was a mistake and he let him go to save us the huge cost of his wages. No mediocre decision that!

I could go on but I think you get my drift. Konchesky had no mediocre season last season and his experience in the EPL will be valuable until such time as we can afford a World Class left back. Be honest, you surely don’t believe Insua was going to be that do you? Mediocre at best!

  • Joe says:

I dont know why so many of our own fans are to quick to turn on players who havent even played so much as a game for us yet.

Konchesky is not a poor signing, by any stretch of the imagination. he’s a quality left back with a lot of EPL experience, and european experience to boot. Hodgson has done well in the transfer window with what he had at his disposal and I for one can’t wait to see a certain Raul Miereles in action (hopefully this weekend…)

Either get behind the club, or get a new club.

Now is the time for solidarity and support, not petty little vendettas because we didnt buy the £30mil plus superstars we couldnt afford.

  • Jay Wright says:

the simple fact of the matter is that right now Konchesky is a far superior left back to Insua.

Maybe one day Insua will elevate himself to the status of a great left back, but for the foreseeable future he would’ve continued to be a liability and combined with the defensive failings of Johnson on the other side, Hodgson understandably didn’t want to take that risk.

He’s obviously got the taste for first team football now that Liverpool couldn’t reasonably expect to provide him with any further (if we were to maintain any short term ambition), and so it was a sensible choice to part ways, for both parties

  • RedMist!!! says:

Insua is a poor excuse for a left back!

I don’t know any Liverpool supporters who are sad to see him go!

Konchesky is a much better player.

  • Mike76 says:

I don’t agree that Konchesky is far superior left back. More experienced yes. A little better, possibly, but NOT far superior.

Over the years, watching MOTD on the BBC, I have lost count of the amount of times I have seen Konchesky get skinned, nutmegged or caught ball watching.

Inusa burst into the first team but never seemed to recover from a difficult second season. Still at only 21 he can only get better. At 29, Konchesky is average at best and unlikely to improve.

Good luck fella, shame Roy was not prepared to give you a chance to improve.

  • Daz_Man_UK says:

I haven’t really followed Konchesky so I couldnt comment on him, but obviously as a LFC fan ive been watching Insua develop and from what ive seen he wasnt ready to be called upon full-time.

If we had a good, consistant left back with Insua as cover he would have had more time to settle into the game, rather than being thrown in at the deep end, plus someone who could have guided him along and helped him.

According to the stats on MoTD, we conceded most of our goals from the left side of the pitch, meaning Insua wasnt doing his job. Give him time and im sure he will eventually become a great left back, he has the potential. Thats the benefit of him being only on loan.

  • Meireles says:

Insua is a decent backup – he was thrown in the deep end cos Aurelio is injury prone. Young defenders will always make mistakes. Although Insua is strong and good going forward, his lack of pace often leaves him exposed, especially against pacey wingers.

  • Stevie b says:

Why do people have to be so extreme in their opinion.
Insua was overplayed last year due to injuries in the squad. Most talented youngsters would be phased gradually into the team, not thrown into the deep end. It was hardly surprising he looked slightly out of his depth at times. I remember 11 years ago fickle reds saying Carra was never going to be good enough. They must feel like fools now.! Insua would have been a great understudy for the reliable and experienced konchesky. And he would have qualified as home grown as well. As for people having a pop at poulsen and konchesky’s ages well I almost agree, these signings are short term measures, but is that bad! Just remember Gary Mcallister.

  • MB LFC says:

@Red Barron – Well said mate – Insua is a young lad who is waaay ahead of himself. Needs to develop – could possibly be an excellent left back one day but certainly not at the moment.

Konchesky is a good left back tho I wasn’t overly thrilled when we signed him… still I would take him over Insua for first team action – not that I was keen for Insua to leave, he is not a starter.

  • stan howard says:

insua is a useless full back, he’s not sorry to leave i’m very glad he’s left

  • Duigs says:

RedBarron: What has Tottes got to do with it i.e. Roy surrounding himself with mediocre players? Do you remember who bought him?
As a Liverpool fan, I’m right behind Roy – but surely you must have concerns about Poulsen, and signing 39-year old Konchesky on a 4 year deal? And letting promising youngsters like Insua, Della Valle etc go?

  • SG says:

Those who say RH has not giving him a chance, should consider that Insua has not given him a chance and fought for a place.

  • Jonjo says:

I’m so bored of people like Marshy criticising RH over his transfer dealings. Insua was not good enough and a liability down the left. RH is a shrewd operator and would have been fully aware of his problems when coaching Fulham, so why should he give him another chance? Konchesky isn’t anything special and RH knows that, but he needed a reliable performer until we have money to splash.

Same goes for Aqualani, massive talent, but the premiership is too fast for him. Even against the Robotnicki, he looked way off the pace and you simply don’t have time to pick a pass in the Prem. Like most Italians or players from Serie A, he struggled to adapt.

Lets face it, Rafa has left RH with a squad full of medicore players held afloat by a small core of stars. AS RH has recently said, the squad needed an overhaul. Rafa was a genius tactician but a shocker in the transfer market.

  • Paul Davies says:

    Insua = Slow and cr*p.

  • Joe says:

    Konchesky’s 39???

  • bonesman says:

Sell high buy low the hick empire juggernaut rolls on, mediocre is exactly what it is, however you try and dress it up, nando will be next thats when you blurts will realise whats been done to the club..
