An Open Letter to Roy Hodgson

|

Roy, you asked us to give you ten games to fully evaluate your performance. Well we are now eight games in and it is surely reasonable to start assessing your actions and I hope you are listening to our concerns and ideas, unfortunately I worry that you are not.

On your arrival at Anfield the one thing you said that stood out and appealed to the fans the most is that you intended to develop a more creative and attacking team. If a poll was conducted close season about what improvement Liverpool fans most wanted to see from our treasured team then I imagine these two characteristics would have far outweighed any others. Your first moves on this front were positive: you managed to persuade Gerrard and Torres to stay, and signed Cole and Meireles. But from our very first game a lot of concerns have risen that your ability to follow through on these desires has been constricted to say the least, and the blame cannot solely be focused on limited manoeuvrability in the transfer market.

If you take the four players named above and add to them Kuyt, Jovanovic, Johnson, Maxi, Ngog, and Babel it is plain to see that we DO have plenty of creativity and attack-minded players. Additionally include the youngsters on the verge of the first team: Pacheco, Eccleston and Amoo and we have 13 attacking, creative and capable players vying for six positions. So surely we should have the capabilities and the competition for places to allow our attacking force to be something worth fearing, but sadly at the moment it is not. Why?

It is a fair point that we need more natural width but that is something we will need to wait to January to improve and our on field issues need rectifying with immediate effect. The other present issues are form and maybe a lack of potent strikers. Firstly I disagree that we are in dire need of strikers. For example, Ngog has scored seven goals this season and when he came on against Everton on Sunday he did have a couple of encouraging moments. He is our top goalscorer yet as soon as Torres is close to fit (but not close to top form) Ngog is sacrificed to make way for our talismanic lone ranger. It is glaringly obvious to everyone that Torres needs more support upfront and with Ngog’s form (and hopefully continued improvement) I expected to see this partnership at least given a chance to develop, yet they have had all but no opportunity to do so.

Roy has got to go , lets hope Henry is reading websites like this as well as listening to the fans . make the change now and the new manager will have in place his views for the January transfer window . Hodgson is small club minded . he thinks we’re fulham or Blackburn … well were not we are the most successful club in Britain and we should be thinking like that .. he should have come out after the everton game and said simply NOT GOOD ENOUGH !!!!!

An open letter to anyone penning an open letter.

    Give it a rest.

    Does Roy need to go?
    yes, yes he does.
Will penning a pretentious “open letter” make any difference?

    Not a jot.

    • RoyK says:

Lol….An open letter to anyone penning an open letter to anyone penning an open letter…. what’s the harm.. let him vent out his frustrations (n obviously there’s a lot of it around) through this.

  • albey says:

James thats fair comments mate i go along with all you have said on the wide men roy must of new we needed wingers at the start of his employment it had been spoken about all last season under rafa.we are overloaded with central midfielders and to be honest there is only gerrard that top class . we needed wingers and center forward at start of the season i believe the money he spent on merrelis and that left back and polson we could of got the players we need i have been following lfc since 1963 and i have never wanted a manager sacked and still dont so i would like to suggest we move roy upstairs and bring king kenny down stairs no loss of face no loss of money problem solved

An Open Letter To Roy Hodgson Simple Enough For Him To Understand:

    Dear Roy,

You’re not fit to manage Liverpool. Please go.

    Regards,
    All Who Love Liverpool FC

  • george says:

Bring KING Kinny back! He the best !
Kick out Roy, Sammy Lee, Purslow!

  • StonyK says:

Roy does have to go I think. In response to Get Real, this rubbish team when managed by Benitez was capable of 4 points from the title 2 years ago. So many people critisise Benitez for his lack of ability, but why don’t they critisize Hodgson for the same. Finishing 7th is a dream at the moment and the Benitez bashers should start eating their humble pie….

  • DavMel says:

    Roy has to go.
Who is the next best alternative to Rafa?
    Guus Hiddink.
We must get Guus on board asap OR beg Rafa to come back!

    • ken08 says:

i too want Rafa back, but what will the backstabbers do,Gus Hiddink would ONLY be a second choice as its Rafa`s euro tactics that we will miss,i also think he will have learned a few lessons and re-adjust to suit. With new owners and an open policy of discussion and money available for when the manager needs it would be exactly what Rafa wanted to begin with, with the gruesome twosome now departed, and Rafa
has an eye for a bargain which would suit the new owners too

      • RoyK says:

Rafa overachieved in the season we finished 2nd.. WHY…cos there for quite a few games we won at the 12th hour… n its superhuman to keep doing that all the time… some where we needed a team that will dominate right from the start and win, and not scrape a win. He didn’t address those issues in the last season… and hence we finished 7th. The lack of wingers, adept full backs and a centre forward had been there last season as well.. He did a fantastic job until the last season. Let’s thank him and move on.. We did need a change from Rafa… only that change wasn’t Roy

    • Livmad says:

Rafa back? Are you nuts? He’s 2nd worst to Roy

      • Fahrian says:

You’re either a fake liverpool supporter or just ignorant.
With Rafa, the reds were great! excluding last season. MU, Chealsea and Arsenal have a better squad. Teams like Man City, Totenham and others have spent more last year, so 7th was a realistic position.
Rafa brought respect for Liverpool in the Champions League.

  • Fizz says:

Even in our not so glory years, we still win trophies!!!

Gerrard has won everything but the prem with us…so go figure!!!

We want the title but yet we have still won the big one in Europe..out of nothing!!!

    God Bless!!

  • emcoks says:

roy if you know what is good for you and also if you like to keep this job this is only advice i can give you stop playing that white monkey called lucas who is a disgrace to brazil. play 4-4-2 formation, full backs:aurello & carrager, central defence: skrtel & agger, midfield: poulsen, meireles, gerrald & babel, then forward torres & kyrt

  • emcoks says:

    then get us aquilani back

  • hos says:

bring o`neil,,, he`s the right man

    • ant says:

o’neil!!! r u havin a laugh? hodgson mark 2 comes to mind!please no,dont ever let that happen or we’ll go down after them 2 in charge. we need some class, end of. Ant, west derby

    • ched78 says:

      never never oniell

  • Alan says:

Long gone you f- idiot? 3 Champions league semifinals in the last six years. Two finals. 2nd in the league in ’09. How many Champions league games have the bitters played? hahahahaha

You’re so stupid you must be a football journo for some tabloid.

  • Alan says:

Frank Rijkaard – Ajax, AC Milan as a player

Barcelona and Liverpool as a manager.

Bring it on baby. And get that FRAUD Woy out the fucking door ASAP.

  • DAVIE says:

Roy please go, you should be at the crossroads holding a lollipop stick. In the long term youll not be good enough for but at least you can say you gave it a try. YNWA.

  • Lee says:

Roy Hodgson needs to be sacked immediately. He was never good enough to be mentioned as a potential Liverpool manager let alone be given the job. 2nd from bottom after 8 proves that and it will only get worse.

Kenny Dalglish SHOULD NOT be given the reins. He’s had his chance and he left umpteen years ago – we need to look to the future not the past.

The same applies to Rafa. The guy infuriated me more than Roy. He overcomplicated things, made too many wrong decisions, spent too much money, had too much of a free rein and constantly made us look bad in the media…and still is. Don’t flog a dead horse.

I hear MoN, Rijkaard, Pellegrini, Hiddink – all of these managers would be lovely rather the inept Roy Hodgson.

  • redjonjo says:

Stuttgard lost 6 games their manager was sacked, liverpool win 1, drawn 3, lost 4 and Roy is still manager.
    ynwa

  • Stevie Gee says:

Can we make a deal with the Turks and swap Roy for Rijkaard. Maybe we could add Lucas as a sweetener for the deal…What do you think ..?

  • Stevie b says:

In Roy we do not trust. Please leave now.

  • C Stars says:

“nothing short of King Kenny pulling off the Quadruple is any good any more”

I didn’t know complaining about being in the relegation zone is the same as not winning the Quadruple. Jog on mate. If you want to take a pop at LFC, you gotta do a bit better than that you prick.

You must be in with the know nothing Yanks Hicks and Gilette cos Tranmere are bottom of League One. So are they going to get promoted to the Championship? Not at this rate. You don’t even watch football so stick to writing about sporting figures you’re an expert on like Tom Daly…

  • Simon says:

If the new owners really are winners they will listen to this simple message: Roy has to go, NOW!
