A crucial window for our future

|

Liverpool FC is in very big trouble if this proposed sale to John W Henry and N.E.S.V does not materialize. The need to sell the club to serious investors has become increasingly important. I like many other L.F.C supporters was of the assumption that Roy Hodgson would be ideal to take us out of this turmoil and actually bring back a level of stability to Liverpool Football Club. However, that has not been the case, and after seven league games we sit in an unfamiliar position of eighteenth, and flirting with relegation. Certainly, we will not be relegated, however, it has looked more unlikely that we will finish this season in the top half of the table, if the attitude of the players is anything to go by.

The coming transfer window should hopefully see us with new owners, and ones who will no doubt have great ambitions for LFC. This would ultimately means that we get the quality players we need to compete for trophies. Therefore come January transfer window it is vital we secure the services of that much needed striker in addition we also need two quality wingers and beef up our defence by getting rid of Glen Johnson and finally finding a suitable replacement for the legendary Jamie Carragher.

Unfortunately, Hodgson has clearly lost it, his tactics has a lot to be desired and he has failed to inspire his players. There is a level of complacency in Hodgson’s squad, it’s as if some players are of the belief that their position on the starting eleven is almost guaranteed. Players such as Rodriguez and Johnson come in every week and make silly mistakes which often time determine if we win or lose. There are better young players in the reserves that need to be given an opportunity.

It is almost certain that if Liverpool Football Club fails in its bid to secure N.E.S.V or any other serious investors with ambitious vision for the club, then we will surely see an exodus of players come January. Certainly, we cannot fault the players for wanting to win titles, what must be realize is that players like Torres and Gerrard do not just play for money anymore, but to win trophies, to be a part of a winning team.

I have been a Liverpool F.C supporter since the mid 80's, I fell in love with this club when I saw the likes of Ian Rush and John Barnes play. I hold a Law degree from the University of London ,and a Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of the West Indies.

Totally agree. Specially the bit of shipping out the deadwood, i nearly split my sides when i heard about Johnson paving the way to move to Real, did’nt think the needed a ball boy! It is important that we keep our big guns on board though. No matter what happens H&G are certainly going to take a hit. Lose money if they stay (heaven forbid), lose money if they go. At least we can laugh about that, should’nt have neglected the club B’STARDS! Don’t know what to make of J.W.H. but clearing our debts can’t be a bad thing, should free up some cash. YNWA.

If maicon is available, then we can ask glen to leave unless we catch maicon for Kuyt or lucas as swap. Really we must do our job with little money. I think NESV wont spend more this time. We must sell the likes of Maxi, Lucas, Babel so that we can get around 20M along with owners 30-40M which must be spend wisely. maybe Mata, Arda, Ole are good buys at present. But this is a question for Nano whether they are really a big star signings?. Will they can stand in EPL and make the team strong. Noone knows wat Roy thinks. He can even bring more ordinary players so that we can be a ordinary team leading to exit of Pepe, Torres. Or some big stars so that we can challenge for titles.

There are very rarely any big transfers during the January transfer window and I doubt that will change this year – why would players want to leave their clubs midseason, with the prospect of winning trophies, to come to battle with our club with the FA Cup the only trophy that they could conceivably compete for??

Hodgson screwed up his chance to revamp the team over the summer and that opportunity won’t come back around until next summer. Hopefully for a new more attack minded manager though…
