The People have linked Liverpool with a move for Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross. Reds boss Roy Hodgson is looking to shore up the backline during the January transfer window and the Potters defender has been put on the club’s wish list if they can find any money. According to the paper, Reds scouts have been looking for a young up and coming defender to support veteran Jamie Carragher, and the alarming form of the Reds defence have hastened their efforts. Shawcross could however be way out of the Reds price range as Stoke value the player at £10million while former club Manchester United are said to have a “first option” on buying the player.
