From Flair to Fight – Can Liverpool show their quality again?

|

If Liverpool are able to acquire a maximum of 6 points from their next two games then, if results elsewhere also go the way of the Reds, we could find ourselves positioned in the top 5/6 of the Premier League. That is far cry from only a couple of weeks ago when our club was sat languishing in the relegation zone of the league. Liverpool need to keep up their recent trend of successfully balancing efficient football with a brilliant sense of discipline and determination. Reliably tenacious performances from the likes of Kyrgiakos, Jamie Carragher and Lucas have coupled together well with commendable attacking performances from players such as Gerrard, Raul Meireles and the back to form Fernando Torres.

On the back of his man of the match performance against Chelsea, Lucas will be looking to use these types of games to continue his excellent form. Tough away games at The JJB Stadium and The Britannia Stadium have always been one for hard work and willingness to battle for all 3 points. Players such as our Brazilian centre midfielder thrive on fighting for the club and I believe Lucas will be an important player in the next couple of games as his style of play mixed with the form of our crucial attacking players could be a perfect remedy for two more wins on the bounce.

It’s nice to see the team winning football matches again and winning them whilst playing well, which we seen on Sunday. There is nothing stopping Liverpool from climbing back into the top four by Christmas and let’s hope the lads can carry on their admirable performances for as long as possible starting with Wigan on Wednesday night.

TOP TEN LIVERPOOL MOMENTS OF THE DECADE

As we come closer to the end of 2010, I thought it might be good to look back at the last decade and see all the memorable moments Liverpool have had during that time. Of course, the most immediate memory is the Champions League final in 2005, but there are also individual memories such as Gerrard’s goals against Olympiakos in 2005 on the way to the “Miracle in Istanbul,” and the “Gerrard final” of 2006 where Stevie dragged the team to win the FA Cup. Also I have shared memories of instances that occurred under Gerard Houllier’s tenure such as the Golden Goal winner in the UEFA Cup final in 2001, Gary McAllister’s injury time free kick in the Merseyside Derby and John Arne Riise’s goal against Manchester United that nearly broke the goal post in two.

couldn’t have said it better and also agreeing with Stan. Also by the end of the year and we’re in top four, we are in a very good position to attract top quality players in the January transfer windows.
