Hodgson keeping an eye on PSV Pair?

|

The Daily Mirror reports that Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson is tracking PSV pair Ola Toivonen and Ibrahim Afellay. According to the paper, Hodgson was present for the match between PSV Eindhoven FC Twente last weekend, and he is apparently keeping an eye on the Swedish striker and the Dutch winger. Apparently, states the Mirror, Roy flew out to watch the PSV match before jetting back to England for the Bolton game on Sunday, while Kenny Dalglish has also watched PSV in the last two weeks. Swedish striker Toivonen was linked with Liverpool in the summer transfer window as a possible option to give Fernando Torres much needed support up front, while Dutch winger Afellay’s contract runs out in the summer and the player has stated he is allowed to move in January with Barcelona being front runners for his signature.

I would love to see Afellay at Liverpool but signing both players would probably cost up to 20 million. There will be fierce competition for Afellay as the article suggests as the likes of Barca and Manuscum will be interested. Afellay will add some much needed creativity to our current side and can play both in the middle and out on the wings. Haven’t seen much of Toivonen so not sure if he’s up to the task. Signing a striker and a winger has to be the priority so I’d welcome both players at Liverpool. YNWA

these would be perfect signeings but do you really think these players will infact join LFC. Roy has a record of getting players of 28 to 30 age group, and important fact is our manager is to defencive tactically and now days players love to attack. Which was our trade sadly once upon a time…….

By the sounds of statements from the club’s owners he won’t be able to buy players in the 28+ bracket anymore- good thing too because we want to build a club for the future.

My question to all readers is does any one from LFC board do read this site and consider our questions or suggestions posted on this site???

    I dont think so….and this hurts….

  • Simon says:

Hodgson has already stated his position on Toivonen so I wouldn’t give too much credence to those stories. In the summer he said he rated him as a player but he did not have the profile Liverpool were looking for as the club had several options in his favoured position behind the main striker. But I would selcome these two players and van Wolfswinkel.
