Kuyt and Johnson injury update

|

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson believes that Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt will be fit enough to be in the squad against Chelsea next weekend. The Dutchman injured his ankle while on international duty for the Netherlands earlier this month but Hodgson has stated he is making a good recovery:

“I think he [Kuyt] will be available to be in the squad against Chelsea, but whether he is fit enough to play remains to be seen. I think he will return to training towards the latter part of the week and then it is a question of seeing how well he can cope.”

Glen Johnson is also believed to be close to a return to full fitness after being sidelined with a thigh strain.

Dirk Kuyt should replace Cole in the starting XI if the latter fails to recover in time for Chelsea while Johnson should come in at right back with Carra making way cause I wouldn’t sacrifice either Skrtel or Kyrgiakos just because Carra has to be starting. Also, Maxi should retain his place on the right wing even if it means either Kuyt or Cole being left out cause I think Maxi played well against Blackburn and also scored the winner yesterday at Bolton so he fully deserves to retain his place on the right. Team against the scums Chelsea should be: Reina, Johnson, Kyrgiakos, Skrtel, Aurelio, Maxi, Lucas, Meireles, Cole or Kuyt (depending on their fitness), Gerrard and Torres.

Do not play either kyut or johnson, we had a good movement on the pitch without them and i think maxi enjoy playing on the left flank yesterday when joe cole injured. and one more uncle roy, please plays two strikers from the first half and if it not works then you know what to do in the second half.

    • Eric says:

The last time we played with two strikers (Torres and Ngog) we got raped by Man City. Torres up front on his own with Gerrard just behind and Lucas and Meireles two central midfielders.

  • Jay Wright says:

Kuyt should have to play with the reserves and earn his place back in the team – let’s see how much he shines and how happy he is with 5 minute cameo appearances here and there!

    • Joe says:

He’s been injured, he’s always worked hard in the past, why would that change? he puts in a much more effective shift than most of our lot do at the moment, quite frankly i can’t wait for him to be back to full strength, we might have a bit of fighting spirit again!

they deleted my post for whatever reason and I can’t be bothered to write it all over again.

End of the day though, Kuyt’s “hard work” didn’t lead to good performances from him or from the team. Why is that going to change?? Therefore he should be at the back of the queue now and have to play with the reserves and wait, like the rest of the fringe players

    eric we played 4213

with jovanovic torres and kuyt up front

    • Eric says:

Against Manc we played 442 with Torres and Ngog up front. And we got raped big time by Manc cause they dominated the midfield.

  • Ted says:

For next game against chelsea, i would really like to to see a more attacking formation, raul and gerrard should interchange positions, raul has been more attacking lately and could be the arsernal wer need to defeat chelsea. as for the wings maxi and jovanavic would do. and the full backs i have konchensky and glen, cara should start on the bench, he is to slow and not creative when he advances, his tackles do cost us, he would be outpaced by malouda or anelka and we dont want to make this mistake.joe cole to come in second half to take raul’s place who would switch to a flank and replace milan. lucas has had a good run, good ball disribution and should stay, centre backs soto n skirtl, now if this happens…we have chelsea wrapped…
