Reds building up £40m summer transfer fund?

|

Liverpool could be building a £40million transfer warchest for the summer transfer window, according to the Guardian. While match day and commercial revenues take care of the Reds’ sizeable wage bill, NESV are looking to utilise Premier League TV rights payments to build up a transfer kitty. In an indication of the “rational commercial approach” promised by John W Henry, the Guardian believes that the Reds will use the £6m plus £1.5m monthly payment they receive in January, with the £10m that they will receive from the Premier League in May, adding this to the £7m+ they will get from a top 10 finish, and the net £15m transfer revenues they have raised over the last year to bring the transfer budget up to a total of £40m before even a player is sold.

I hope this is true because I think its a certainty we will be selling a couple of players. Aquaman is a cert 10mil, and possibly one of either Jova, Babel or someone else. That rises around 15mil minimum. The question is….can we get hold of the players?

This is good news, we will have to spend at least 40m to strengthen the squad in the summer but I hope it will be a new manager who will be spending the money cause I don’t want Hodgson to splash out on players like Koncheski, Poulsen and Carlton Cole. Also, we should get a couple of world class players in during the winter transfer window if we are to have any chance of finishing in the top four. The major spending and rebuilding will be done in the summer but circumstances suggest that we need to recruit a couple of players in the winter.
