Rumoured Liverpool target Pavel Pogrebnyak’s agent Oleg Artemov has confirmed there is interest from four English clubs for the Russian striker:
“There is interest from four clubs in England but painstaking work is ahead. We need to discuss everything, to weigh the pros and cons, then we can talk specifics. Soon, in the new year, the transfer window will open and it will be clearer. I have always had a desire for Pavel to play in England. In principle, he is equally suited to Germany and England, but in England it will be easier for Pogrebnyak to show his quality. He has a good knowledge of the language and was taught English in a special school. And the lifestyle in England is more suited to Pavel.”
Pogrebnyak is likely to leave his club Stuttgart after falling out with coach Jens Keller. He has scored 5 goals in 11 Bundesliga matches this season despite starting only six games and playing the full 90 minutes just twice. The 27 year old target man stated that the coach went back on his promise to start him against Hoffenheim at the weekend despite playing well in the Europa League against Young Boys:
“The coach said that on Saturday we had a very important game and expected to play me from the start. Frankly, I was surprised to be on the bench. When the coach says one thing and then changes his mind, it looks a little strange.”
The Russian is said to be interesting Liverpool, Tottenham and Blackburn.

Why are we targeting these kind of players? We want a quality world class striker who can compliment Torres and come in for him when he’s not available. Maybe someone like Benzema, F.Llorente or Vucinic but not this guy.
