It made absolutely no sense at all, absolutely no sense . . .

|

I am sure I was not the only one who could have predicted the result against Wolves last night even before kick off. Just by looking at Liverpool’s starting eleven, it was apparent that Roy Hodgson’s tactical nous was completely non-existent. Switching Raul Meireles back to the right hand side of midfield to accommodate the returning Steven Gerrard as well as switching Dirk Kuyt from the right to the left made absolutely no sense at all, and it seems astonishing that neither Roy nor the Sky commentary team could see the absolute idiocy of not just playing no wingers at all but basically four central players in a 4-4-2 formation.

Even Roy must have noticed that Lucas and Raul Meireles had struck up a good partnership in recent weeks and that if he was to break it up, it would lead to less fluidity in midfield. Roy should have known Meireles’ best performances came in the centre of the park, in his best position, while his displays on the right were poor at best. Then we get to sticking Dirk Kuyt on the left. Sure he has played the role for Holland but in a 4-3-3 formation, not in the rigid 4-4-2 system that Roy employed last night. Kuyt had replaced a player in Maxi Rodriguez who Roy had credited only weeks before as one of the Reds best performers of the season. Square pegs in round holes just doesn’t cover it; is Roy just trying to accommodate all his best players or has he completely lost it? Despite all the terrible post match quotes from Roy last night in regards to the lack of support from fans, and his distinction between “fans” and “supporters,” my favourite quote was this:

“When I think about it had I chosen a different team which did not have a midfield of Dirk Kuyt, Lucas Leiva, Steven Gerrard and Raul Meireles, with Fernando Torres and David Ngog up front, I don’t think things would have been different.”

There is no common sense or logic to Woy. He makes it up as he goes along.

The joke is over now. It’s time he was removed from the club.

Begone you foul demon may the lucre you obtained from Hicks & Gillett to relegate us burn holes in your pockets and bank accounts, may you rot in the pits of hell for ever.

    LOL

  • Zahid says:

Fans going to the Bolton game firstly shouldn’t go, if they do they should make banners wanting Roy out.

We couldn’t beat Wolves what chance is there of beating Bolton, who were unlucky to come away with nothing against Chelsea……YNWA

SACK ROY, BRING BACK THE JOY

  • Jay says:

well, i wanted to give Roy until end of season and give him a chance. He needed time to “fix” the team. but, now we are in December. 8 losses. Loosing to teams like Wolves is a complete and utter disaster. no excuses. can’t blame the players all the time. can’t blame previous manager all the time. the buck stops with Roy. He’s had about something like 4 months to “steady” the ship and get Liverpool playing with some consistency(even a little improvement!). however, the ship is sinking under Roy. Sorry Roy, but yesterday’s game, the team looked like a bunch of sheep. Wolves were a better side. Blackpool look better than Liverpool right now.

SIGN PETITION TO GET HIM OUT

  • jon says:

quite right. no tactical awareness, players out of position, etc etc. it goes on. whilst the players need to stand up, there is no point playing players out of position with no tactical awareness and creativity/width etc. it is so clear that roy is out of his depth it’s incredible! and he’s even talking as if he knows he’s a dead man walking! wtf!

  • Graham says:

Guys, please sign this petition to get rid of the clueless pillock known as Roy! http://www.petitiononline.com/hodgson/

  • kenny says:

It would be a help if the likes of Torres and Gerrard were as committed to the club as the fans are. They and the rest of the squad should go and tell NESV that they will go on strike if they do not sack Hodgson straight away, but instead they will keep playing rubbish and collect their ridiculously high wages for the rest of the season until the club is relegated.

  • jay says:

He had to bring back Gerrard because if he never then you lot would have bxxlocked him, you inbread scousers defend him with ya lives and yet the londoner roy is to blame.
Yet last year Gerrard was bad and he has been this, Torres wants to leave.
The Villa game was a prime example you looked like a Hodgson team and smashed them, why because you had 2 hard working strikers (babel and ngog) and no egos like Gerrard.
Gerrard is a Attacking midfielder that disrupts a team, they are only effective if they are getting goals and assists, we have one and maybe Gerrard should take a look at him Rafeal Van Der Vaart

    • Kev Crawford says:

Haven’t you got your own website jay? Also,a bit of advice from one of the “INBRED” scousers – “Rafael van der Vaart” is “an attacking midfielder” Maybe you should consult a dictionary before you post comments on another team’s website eh?

      • Matt Castellian says:

Funny – well said! Don’t people get it> It’s got nothing to do with Roy being a Londoner for God’s sake. I’ll ask you this Jay – Capello get’s the sack, ‘Arry takes the England job, SO – do you want Roy? He can then turn Rafeal Van Der Vaart into a Attacking midfielder and he can disrupt your team. SIMPLES!!!

      • mal says:

Unfair Kev. He managed a couple of words of more than one syllable there. And “prime example”? Impressive. He possibly even knows what it means

        • Jay says:

Also, I do tend to listen to the comments on the website’s, and tend to debate about the issue which is Liverpool and not grammer so I will answer your intial question Kev and yes I do have a website that I use “spursnetwork.com” problem is mate everything is going so well over there I find it hugely boring and predictable, 10 games unbeaten, all we tend to do is debate over who is the better player VDV, Modric or Bale.
I thought I would pop over here and have something to debate about, its been a while you see LAD 🙂

      • Jay says:

Also may I state with regards to grammer and in priciple people’s names, mine being Jay whether as a noun or an adjective, naming adherents start with a capital letter which means its Jay and not jay.
Silly Boy, you have made a right plonker of yourself x

  • ste says:

Maybe the d*ckhead board will sack him after we lose our next match then?

  • RF says:

Somebody get that tie of him as it is a complete disgrace to let him wear it.. I dont mind losing but as long as we have a good crack at the game .. his football dictates otherwise..

  • Red Enko says:

    Time gentlemen please……..

  • Eric says:

Roy Hodgson is tactically inept. He has no idea what he’s doing. I’m sick of his negativity and his tactics. Having looked at the starting line up and formation I already knew things were not going to work out. It’s clear the Lucas-Meireles partnership was going well but he decides to stick Meireles on the right just to accommodate Gerrard. He still hasn’t realised Aurelio is better than Konchesky and Agger our best central defender. He plays Kuyt on the left and both him and Meireles contributed nothing. I was prepared to give Roy time and he said “judge me after 10 games”. 18 games gone now and we’re 3 points above the relegation zone and 15 points from the top. This guy just isn’t good enough to manager Liverpool FC and the sooner he goes the better.

  • chunky says:

I was one of the 4% who forecasted in the poll that we would lose this game. Also the next as long as this idiot is in charge.
Where the hell does he get any justification for playing men in out-of-position places?? Lunacy is hardly the word for it.
NESV are no better allowing this charade to continue. We will be about 15th or 16th come the end of the season methinks.

  • Lfc4Life says:

Oh shock we lost to wolves…

  • Lfc4Life says:

Oh shock all the let’s back Roy lot have gone quiet…

  • Lfc4Life says:

I told all when we sacked we would be in this position…
    And look where we are!

Now swallow your pride and beg for him to come back and pull us out this mess….

Yes he was the man who turned down real Madrid to try and save us from G&H but even he was human in the end!

  • richard says:

Was at work, so missed the line up, and the game, and on the way home heard 909 giving the line up and then the result. Thought it was a joke!!! Why would any manager play that combination of 4 central midfielders across the park. Then I remembered, it’s Roy “clearly suffering from Alzheimer’s” Hodgson. Why is he still in a job, why is he still in the community, there is surely a care home with his name on it!!! Please, go away, resign, or do something, but please leave liverpool, Roy you are killing us.

    • Jay says:

Who should he drop then, you tell me, Gerrard was back and what did he do, nothing, Milijas made him look like a school boy.
I would have played Maxi, Lucas, and Meirelis as they deserve it based on form, Gerrard should of played right or not at all.
I hear your rant about 4 central midfielders but what else could he of done, he plays Gerrard in the wrong position and everyone would go mad

      • richard says:

One of Gerrards most successful seasons a number of years ago under Houllier was on the right wing. He has pace and passing and can cut in.

I would leave Raul and Lucas in the middle because they have deserved it. I would put Maxi out left as he was playing OK there till recently. Kuyt and Torres up front, though the question should be asked, how many more chances are we giving Torres. Babel played surprisingly well recently up front and seemed to want it more than torres does. Or we risk a 352, lose PK, and have Agger, Skrtel and Soto at the back, Raul and Lucas in the middle with Glen on the Right, Maxi left, Gerrard behind the two strikers.

  • richard says:

In response to Lfc4Life though, Rafa can stay away. He has proved at Inter that he is incapable. He inherited the best team in Europe, then failed, and then had the audacity to ask for money. He did not win the Champions Legue at Liverpool, a team he inherited, and made no chages to won. And lets not forget we were 3 nill down at half time with the team that he chose. Yes he made some great substitutions, but Hamaan should have been on from the start. Sorry, just needed to get that off my chest. Roy and Rafa should get together and play russian roulette with a double barrelled shotgun. Harsh admittedly, but I’ve had a beer or two.
