Patience needed, or is it the end of the road for Roy?

|

With Liverpool languishing in ninth in the table following our hopeless display at Newcastle. Is it time to bring an end to his sorry regime or is a time to be patient with the man who guided Fulham to the Europa League final only last season. After two good wins against West Ham and Aston Villa, I was beginning to see the green shoots of recovery. However the display at Newcastle was abject.

I am in two minds about this, on the one hand, when he gets it right, we are a good team to watch and we have topped our Europa League group, unbeaten, with a reserve team. However, 7 defeats already in the League is simply unacceptable. Still I think he needs to sign another experienced, quality striker and one or two more players this January and then let us see how he does.

It should have been the end of the road for Roy the day after he took over as manager. In fact a wannabe manager like him with his abysmal managerial record should never have been linked with the club, let alone get the job.

Unfortunately, when you bring in championship quality manager, you will inevitably play like a championship level team. The sooner we sack this buffoon the better.

  • Alan says:

Roy will not be getting any other serious club in the whole of Europe once Liverpool sack him.

He does not deserve a top level club with his CV and age. Liverpool are far too big for Roy’s capabilties and needs to be sacked.

  • Baz says:

Roy seems like a pretty decent bloke but at the end of the day this counts for nothing. Roy is out his depth & has to go. The top 4 is defiantly beyond us now & mid table is looking more realistic. I fear if roy doesn’t go and things improve quickly we may lose the likes of Fernando, Stevie & Pepe.

tbh, I don’t really see that “nice guy” stuff in him.

There was a lot of PR put out about him being this classy old gentleman, that takes a common sense approach to management and gives everybody a fair chance, but in all actuality, he looks to be one of the more venemous and nasty managers in the Premiership – even without his comments, you can just watch him screwing up his face on bench to see his true nature

  • Tony says:

Patience is needed because I have never known Liverpool fans to get a manager sacked in all the time I have supported this great club. Even the last 2 seasons of Gerrards reign which were both poor, we didnt have half the crap that is being thrown at ROY.

when it comes to plasying good football I would say that we played better against Totenham and Villa than we did all of last season under Rafa so give the man the support he deserves.

We are starting to sound like Newcastle fans and if the board bows to fan pressure we could end up like them.

Roy should be backed in the transfer market, and please dont mention Poulson and Konchesky. We also need to back him as fans because the more BLOGS like this instigate negative press then the worse the atmoshpere is going to get for LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB!

Who would take over anyway? who is going to gaurantee success? are you going to give the new manager the time and support any new manager deserves just because you have got rid of ROY or would you jump on his back if results dont go our way?

Please be patient and stop this sniping…the board will make changes in the summer and not before..Just like Robbie fowler said, LFC are not a sacking club and need to back the manager in the January transfer market.

  • Marshy says:

Hodgson is completely useless. When the club is in danger you have to act. To say nothing because it’s the ‘Liverpool Way’ is to risk disaster. Hodgson does not deserve any slack whatsoever, the idiot has to go.

  • Mikey says:

The tactics are the problem. How is it we can put out a team of mostly internationals: Torres, Reina, Gerrard, Johnson, Kuyt, Maxi etc. Add Aquilani to that list too.

Then we have a manager who believes in an inflexible 4-4-2 system with no width and we have our answer.

We also defend too deep, and do not close down teams like we have done in the past.

We need a more progressive approach. Anyone can see we now have a midtable team/mindset of international players…… how did that happen?

  • Sean says:

At the risk of sounding like a scratched record. He Has To Go! He’s tactically inept; he regularly breaches player confidentiality; he plays players out of position then criticises them; he never, but NEVER criticises Poulsen or Koncheski, no matter how many mistakes they make. Yes, we beat an abject West Ham team and a poor Villa – any other ‘top four’ side would have put them both to the sword by more than 5 goals. We have Pepe to thank, and Pepe only, for not drawing or losing to Chelsea. Take the Band Aid and cotton wool off your eyes: Roy is so far out of his depth he’ll need a f**king periscope to get out of Anfield’s carpark. The only people who like him are Southern hacks.

  • stan howard says:

he has silenced the kop, what more do you need to know mr henry. sack him and cash in on torres and give the cash to a manager like o’neill.

  • Julie says:

I agree with Mikey, Roy is a manager with a game plan that suits Fulham he says players are coming to grips with his system(s) that he’s trying to implement but it is the fans that pay to watch this torture. I watched the Europa Cup match this morning and wasn’t impressed with the tactics employed in this match either, if this was the reserve team then better enjoy the new year because they will not be in Europe next year if they class this as a performance. The defense outside the 6 yard box looked like zonal marking & putting no pressure on the player on the ball will only allow more Andy Carroll goals! They played as if they hadn’t play with one another in 6 months Poulsen thought everyone @ Anfield was his team mate & passed the ball accordingly, Joe Cole forgot how to count, couldn’t do a 1-2 pass to save his life, Ryan Babel tried to take the opposition on all by himself again! but when his team-mates gave him good delivery he fluffed his chances the only ones who could hold their heads up were Shelvey, Jovanovic, Pacheco when he came on & Kelly, in the 1st half but he must’ve got a grilling for venturing to far forward because his raids disappeared in the 2nd half so with the REAL Fulham coming to town this weekend it would be pointless asking if Woy will change his tactics & come up with a PLAN B (that’s right it’s next to his periscope & the owners patience). We are LIVERPOOL so stop trying to turn us into your FULHAM team, we are use to competing in Europe not fighting in mid-table or relegation so wake up 3 pts is what we want next game out not more bloody excuses & sorry performances.

  • stan says:

he shud’ve been sacked after the blackpool loss but now we shud wait till the end of the season…

  • Eric says:

Hodgson has to go. Many of us have lost patience with this guy already. When you say you need time we give you time but it doesn’t look like you’re getting things right. There are no signs of improvement whatsoever and it’s obvious that he’s just a clueless old-fashioned mid-table manager. It’s better to sack him now before he guides the team to a 9th placed finish at the end of the season. It also looks quite likely that he will bring in mediocre players like Carlton Cole. He might be a nice guy but he’s out of his depth. He’s not the right man for the job and we need a world class manager who is actually capable of managing a club like Liverpool and getting the best out of the players. In other words, the sooner the guy goes the better and I hope NESV realise soon that he’s not the one to bring the club forward.

  • A die-hard LFC Fan says:

RH should never have been appointed manager of Liverpool football club; he has in his right turned Liverpool in another Fulham as if one Fulham was not enough.

He did not need help from Rafa Benitez, the only person to blame for the current mess Liverpool are in is RG himself.

Alot of people are blaming Rafa for Liverpool’s current problems, but you people forget that memorable night in Istanbul, and the FA Cup… Benitez came to Liverpool with a track record and left with a track record…. RG on the other hand… no comparison.

Hicks and Gillett have royally stitched up LFC by appointing RG, I would implore the Liverpool Board to consider seriously sacking RG as he has no means to resurrecting Liverpool back to baston of invincibility that was once Liverpool Football Club.

Roy has turned Liverpool into a laugh stock, a boring mediocre 2nd rate manager turning a global footballing enigma into a 2nd class substandard team. He has to go…

West Ham have given Avram Grant 3 games to save his job, how many games does RG need to be given.

At the end of the day, RG is not managing your typical premiership club, he is managing Liverpool Football club, where’s the passion, the inspiration and the desire, you can blame the players all you want cause they’re the ones who step on that pitch and have to get a result, but the manager’s job is to get the tactics rights, inspire the players, instil the belief of self-confidence.

I once heard “football was a game based on results”, on that “FACT” alone the buck stops with RG. Based on results alone, RG has failed in every area to motivate his players, adopt an inspiring game plan to which the players can relate to and aspire to.

His style of play is so so predicable….now wonder Blackpool got a result against us….

This brings me to my next point….
Liverpool’s next game is of course against Fulham, on the basis of our recent performances, I can’t see us getting a result against the Fulham, and RG will come out with another poor and lame excuse.

As much as it pains me to say, I sincerely hope that Fulham win on Saturday, only to put more pressure on Liverpool Board to sack RG.

Watching Liverpool now a days is no each feat, it is actually quite painfully to watch them now,
Liverpool are now so boring in their game-play and RG has acknowledge this fact that he is not up to the task in hand.

As much as NESV have done good by buying the football club the fact they have allowed RG to stay on is a complete farce.

I don’t see Liverpool making 4th spot this year therefore missing out champion’s league football next year… now that’s a travisity in its own right.

The new board of Liverpool football club will best serve its patient and loyal supporters by sacking RG in the first instance as he is out of his depths…

Who knows… What irony if Fulham are the ones to grant us that request…

Till then… the nightmare of RG continues….
