Agger’s happy, Gerrard not so, about Roy’s departure

|

Liverpool’s Daniel Agger and Steven Gerrard have reacted to the sacking of Roy Hodgson and the arrival of Kenny Dalglish as manager. The Danish defender was quick to praise the new manager for the “positive football” he is trying to instil into the team:

“Kenny’s presence is positive and he’s a great guy. He plays positive football and there’s a new sense of belief. On the pitch, everyone is now determined to go forward and everyone is defending together.”

Gerrard meanwhile reflected on the departure of Hodgson:

“I found Roy great to work with and was very down and sad for him because he’s a good man and I had a good relationship with him. The disappointing thing for everyone is that just one man always gets the blame and that’s the manager. It’s important for us players not to hide behind that.”

This week it is Liverpool fan Caroline Wozniacki!

i didn’t hear gerrard blaming the players when Rafa got sacked..was that because it was 2 players THAT got Rafa sacked

    • Steven says:

      Well said Pete…

Gerrard wasn’t exactly playing out his skin every week while Woy was here either!

    • YNWalkA says:

You said it and, you’re quite correct in thinking that!.

    • YNWalkA says:

It WAS G and C,and I by that I don’t mean the ‘George Cross’, players should stick to playing football, that’s what they’re getting scandalous money for!!!

Its a shame that our legend (SG) has somehow been part of the betrayal of the best manager we had since King Kenny’s first stint. I have lost so much of the respect I held for SG, Carra and the ex legends who have also been spouting garbage about Rafa. Its a real pity as I don’t think I can forgive what has taken place the last couple of seasons. I love my club but no longer love some of the greats associated with it.

sg going down in my estimation everyday.

he was prepared for rafa to take the rap after he underperformed all last season. what a fine individual our captain is,the lout.

  • Lee says:

One of best players ever and you idiots are slating him. With idiots like you as fans who needs enemies.

Rafa deserved the sack and Woy deserved the sack and that’s that. Let’s break from the Liverpool norm and month move forward.

    • Frank says:

garbage, only an idiot would call others idiots for having an opinion different to their own!!!!

  • albey says:

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and steve has his I respect that roy was probably a good man and only steve can say he enjoyed working with roy as for when rafa was sacked did any one ask steve his opinion about rafa’s sacking I dont recall hearing any one ask steve . Thia lad has gave his career toliverpoolfc he could of followed the money could of won more medals but he stayed here as for him not playing out of his skin for rafa what do you think the man is he carried this club for four years now why didnt you mention the other ten players and subs who never performed if you believe that about steve but as i say we all have opinions mine is your wrong to slag him off for expressing his opinion on a former manager

  • Pete says:

Well Said Lee, I can’t believe anyone who supports liverpool would say a bad word about him. Rafa did deserve to go, his last season wasn’t good enough and he was clearly starting to crack up, Hodgson deserved to go too, how many players were moaning about training, how many wernt performing when needed, it’s bad that players do that to a manager but end of the day, what do the owners do, put up with it and end up nowhere or try do something about it

  • Dave says:

Well, by your logic then Pete (ie. Rafa had a bad season last season) Gerrard has deserved to go several times. I count count at least 3 really poor seasons that Gerrard has had but we cut him slack because he’s been a great player for us more often than not. Likewise with Benitez though: he had more excellent seasons than poor, so he should’ve been given more time. The fact of the matter is this: Gerrard has never played better than when Benitez was our manager and since he’s left Gerrard has been average at best. Why? Because Gerrard has always preferred an arm around the shoulder to a kick up the backide, which is precisely what Benitez gave him and he didn’t like it. Nor did Carragher, for that matter. Didn’t stop either of them having their best seasons under the harder task-master though.

Otherwise I’m glad that Agger is happier now, we need to keep him. And if Gerrard could just stop thinking about himself for a second and concentrate on the actual team, we might be better off for it.

    • Frank says:

so right, SG and Carra didn’t like Rafa’s ways even when they did play their best under him. I don’t think SG will see another season as good as he had under Rafa again.
