Liverpool Director of Football Strategy Damien Comolli had a few things to say to French TV show, Les Specialistes, last week. In addition to talking about the club’s interest in Luis Suarez and Ashley Young, he also stated his admiration for Lille pair Eden Hazard and Gervinho:
“Gervinho and Hazard are super players but I know the Lille board well and they won’t sell in January.”
Comolli was also asked about what type of player Liverpool needs currently:
“We want a forward because we lack pace and penetration on the flanks.”

If Suarez deal does not go through then we have to consider the move for Hazard or Turan in summer. With Kenny it seems to me that we are shifting to pass-and-move game play rather than long-balls. In such case I think Ola Toivonen will suit better rather than hard working Surez!
Kenny’s out doing his best to do things the ‘Liverpool Way’ while Charlie Carolie keeps shooting his mouth off every week about players who aren’t at the club. It must be infuriating for Dalglish to be trying to maintain the respect and dignity this club was known for conducting its’ business affairs with only for that bafoon to keep coming out with stupid comments like the ones above. I’ve no problem with the idea of a ‘Director of Football Strategy’ but I’ve never been a fan of Comolli. The French of the football world in general have an arrogance about the way they conduct themselves that makes them hard to like or respect. I wish Comolli would keep his views behind closed doors like they should be. He’s not at Tottenham any longer.
To be honest this is the reason that Comolli is not at Tottenham any longer. never been able to get along with anyone. clearly his ego and his mouth are bigger than his brain. either do your job and sign us some players or shut the hell up!

What’s the point of talking about Eden Hazard or Gervinho if he’s not doing anything to try to bring either of those two to the club. There’s no point in saying you like this player or that player if you’re not thinking about bringing the player to the club. Damien Comolli should keep his mouth shut and work with Kenny to try and bring a striker and a winger to the club this January.
Do you really think he isn’t (try to sign players that is)? honestly some of “our fans” comments! So what harm does it do to have Comolli speaking about the players he likes? F*** all that’s what! All of us just need to shut up about lack of transfers and let the people in the know deal with that side of the football fellas and we should just concentrate on supporting our Reds as much and as hard as possible as I’m sure when the time is right we will sign the right player for LFC.
Like King Kenny said, there’s no need just bringing in someone for the sake of bringing them in even if they don’t fit the overall plan.

How does talking about other team’s players (Gervinho and Hazard) benefit us in any way, shape or form? Comolli is just raising fans’ hopes by confirming his admiration for those players. Like Kenny said, business should be done behind closed doors and there’s no need for them to tell us which players they’re looking at or which players they admire. The next thing Comolli will do is talk about his admiration for Messi and Xavi!
