German Press: Reds interested in Real striker?

|

Liverpool are interested in taking on Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema on loan until the end of the season, according to German website 4-4-2. The Reds are looking into the possibility of bringing the player to Anfield this January, in view to a permanent move at the end of the season. The French international is not a favourite of Jose Mourinho’s and although he is Real’s only fit striker after the long term injury to Gonzalo Higuain, Mourinho opted to pick Cristiano Ronaldo alone up front in last week’s 1-1 draw with Almeria. Benzema returned to score the winning goal against Real Mallorca last night but the lack of faith in the Frenchman is telling in the fact that Mourinho and Sporting Director Jorge Valdano have had a dispute over the Portuguese manager’s desire for a new striker. Valdano believes Mourinho has a perfectly fit striker available in Benzema and doesn’t see why Real need to buy another forward. He called Benzema’s absence against Almeria “unfair” while Mourinho responded:

“I pick the team, and if I need any help then I have my coaching staff.”

The entire incident has led to rumours that Mourinho will quit at the end of the season and that Benzema could leave.

This week it is former Liverpool WAG Joanna Taylor!
