Kuyt: “I think it says everything about him as a man”

|

Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt has reacted to the sacking of Roy Hodgson and the appointment of Kenny Dalglish until the end of the season:

“Kenny Dalglish is a legend and a very important man for this club. I think it says everything about him as a man that he is here to help us and put us back where we belong. It is very sad that Roy (Hodgson) has gone because you can never just blame one man. We must all take the blame and perform better. It’s disappointing to lose a manager like that but a very big plus that we can bring in someone like Kenny. He is a very experienced man and someone who can have a positive impact on the squad. The most important thing is to make Liverpool a winning team again.”

Kuyt started in Dalglish’s first match in charge yesterday.

Losing 1-0 to Manutd was disappointing but I thought the team performed very well, especially if you consider we had 10 men and they had 12 (of course I’m referring to Howard Webb). The penalty was nothing more than a joke and Steven Gerrard’s tackle did not deserve a red card. King Kenny got the team playing some good football and very much motivated the players. He used the correct tactics and was much more positive while his team selection was much more reasonable. Also, I thought Martin Kelly did very well, I can see him being a regular in the future for both the club and England. It also looks like Kenny’s willing to give Babel a chance and both he and Shelvey did alright when they came on. Losing to the scums is disappointing but the performance we put in was good. I can see good times ahead with Kenny.

I was always in favour of patience and doing things the liverpool was as far as sacking the manager went, but i was proud of how we went about it in the face of adversity yesterday. i dont think we’d have come away with as narrow as a result if roy has still been at the helm, perhaps the king can instill a bit of self belief again. here’s hoping.

Yes it was disappointing, but it was because the game was handed, I couldn’t have put it better than Ryan it. But it was good to see Kelly close that side up, kelly rb move johnson further up to the wing. First time I have seen the hunger and the will to do better. We will get things right within a week.
