Reds Target ‘Requests’ Move in January?

|

The Independent is reporting that Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge has requested a move on loan in the January transfer window. According to the paper, Sturridge is unhappy about the amount of first team opportunites he has been given at the London club and Liverpool are among a number of clubs interested in taking him until the end of the season. Sturridge joined from Manchester City on a free transfer in July 2009 but has yet to establish himself in the first team. It is believed Chelsea are reluctant to let the player go out on loan but Sturridge is desperate to get more game time. The 21 year old is on wages of £60,000 per week and Liverpool would need to cover the majority of this if they wanted him on loan, according to the paper.

  • Jay Wright says:

He’s only marginally better than N’gog, if at all, and not good enough to be a starter for us either. It would be a waste of money for us to bring him in, and a waste of time for him to join our bench.

He’s better off waiting to take over from the mediocre Kalou, or the ageing Drogba & Anelka than pushing for a move at this point in time.
