Should he be fined for giving his opinion?

|

Despite the continued controversy over when Ryan Babel is actually going to hit some sustained form for Liverpool, the Dutchman’s off the pitch antics have landed him in hot water this week for his comments about the performance of referee Howard Webb in the FA Cup match against Manchester United on Sunday.

There were two key moments that sparked debate, one involving a penalty awarded to Dimitar Berbatov and the other, the red card to Steven Gerrard.

Babel, on the popular social networking site Twitter, commented that, “They call him one of the best referees? That’s a joke. SMH [shaking my head].” He also posted a mocked-picture of Howard Webb in a Man Utd kit.

Babel later apologised, but should he have to?

No he should not have, he did so to avoid being rapped by the FA. It’s hardly if he said I hope he dies, or I hope all Mancs die in a way similiar to what Morgan (Aldershot) said of his own fans after they boed him. What did the FA do about that? Not a thing, which proves their hypocrites, they’re looking after Fergie’s little pet Webb instead of investigating why the mancs always get something of Webb at old toilet

You should never have to apologise for telling the truth. You should never have to apologise for giving your honest opinion

He should just keep his mouth shut and instead of twittering and rapping all day, get his game together and help us out at that this difficult time….were desperate for a pacy direct player like Ryan Babel to be at the top of his game with the lack of pace/width weve currently got.

I have been a Liverpool fan for 33 years. Last Sunday at Old Trafford, Dan Agger messed up and made contact with Berbatov, yes he dived but Liverpool have got a few penalties like that before. Did anyone criticize the ref for giving us a penalty after Ngog dived at home to Birmingham? Gerrard deserved to be sent off, it was a stupid tackle and it showed what a joke he is as captain. The myth to last night’s defeat at Blackpool that if Gerrard and Carra were playing we would not have lost is rubbish. Gerrard played at Blackburn and was largely anonymous. Carragher is well past his sell by date. Dan Agger as a centreback is a joke, he gives away a penalty at Utd, he gets brushed aside for the 1st goal at Blackpool and leaves Campbell unmarked for the 2nd goal. Their is no point in using his injuries as an excuse as this is the way he has always defended. He should be put in midfield where his ability on the ball is needed. What is the point to this one dimensional pattern of play with Torres? The rest of the players think that scoring goals is not part of their job description. Meireles is a waste of money. Lucas is not a ballwinner, he should be allowed to revert back to the attacking midfielder he was with Gremio. Kuyt is pitiful, he runs around aimlessly down blind alleys and contributes nothing. Liverpool are so predictable, every team knows how to deal with them. NESV are clearly hoping the club get relegated so that all the overpaid rubbish in the squad get up and leave. Relegation unfortunately might be what the club needs to get back to reality. Man Utd got relegated in 1974 and came back up a year later.

Social networking sites like Twitter are for people to express their thoughts and honest opinions. Why should Ryab Babel get punished for simply reacting to Howard’s webb blatantly obvious mistakes? Instead of investigating Babel, why don’t the authorities have a look at Howard Webb and punish Berbatov for diving? The authorities are nothing more than clowns, once again supporting the scums and Fergie.
