Full backs are an essential ingredient to any successful team, and Liverpool have been blessed with many over the last few decades who have played vital roles in the team’s incredible success. If we go back to the 70s and 80s with legendary players such as Phil Neal or Alan Kennedy, or if we look at more recent times with players such as Steve Finnan and John Arne Riise, the Reds consistently pick out some of the best full backs in the game, who are either happy sitting in a bank of four at the back, or making forward runs to support attacks. Considering we are crying out for a good defence and a good left back at the moment, we could do with a few of these guys.
