Will Roy Be Sacked If He Doesn’t Beat Bolton?

|

After Wednesday’s nadir in losing so abjectly to bottom-placed Wolves, Roy Hodgson has to beat Bolton on New Year’s day or his days as Liverpool boss are over. In six stormy months, on and of the field, Liverpool sit 12th in the Premiership with just 22 points and 8 losses in the League already this season.

With the Anfield faithful up in arms over his poor management at our club, 90% of us want him out now, it is hard to see how he can continue in the job for much longer. Hodgson is a decent man, as were Houllier and Benitez before him. He was last season’s League Manager of the year at Fulham but his reputation has been badly tarnished during his six-month stay at Anfield.

NESV are patient and thoughtful people who are loathed to rush into knee-jerk reactions, but, after the humbling by Wolves and, more importantly, the hostile reaction of the fans along with the petitions and pleas to John W. Henry pleading for a new manager, it seems the owners are willing to react. Strong rumours suggest that Kenny Dalglish will be appointed in a caretaker position until the end of the season.

So its vital for Roy and for Liverpool that we beat Bolton on Saturday or there will be upheavals at Anfield. Expect major changes very soon.

I don’t understand why these kind of statements about individual games continue to arise.

Hodgson hasn’t proved that he is out of his depth because of just one poor performance, and one positive result will not prove otherwise

I agree. Always just one more match. This man has had six months you can’t go on saying just one more match.
You need to look at the season as a whole and I’m afraid Liverpool have been very poor, uninspiring and lacking in direction.
The manager needs to go and we need a good shake up of the staff too.

Jan, One performance? obviously you have not seen many matches this season, Everton, blackpool, stoke, wigan, wolves, man city, Man U, to mention a few,,

    • Jan says:

I live in Italy so can’t go to Anfield to see the matches BUT I have seen most of them on tv live or where I couldn’t I’ve listened on LFCTV. I was not saying that he should be given 1 more match rather the opposite that we always hear that he is to be given 1 more match….this must stop. How many more “1 more matches” can we give?
I wanted to say enough….he’s had time, he hasn’t proved himself. As I said before Liverpool have been very poor, uninspiring and lacking in direction. Get rid of Roy and quickly.

HOPEFULLY gone win lose or draw!

Sorry but what are the owners even waiting for? Does winning against Bolton mean Roy’s up for the job? The Bolton game should not be an indicator as to what the future lies for Roy. He’s done nothing to convince people that he’s the right manager to move the club forward. Winning at home to Bolton will mean nothing. We are Liverpool FC and we expect to win against teams like Bolton anyway. 18 league matches gone and we’re 3 points above the relegation zone, I think that’s enough to tell us and the owners that Roy clearly is not up to the task.

the players looked very happy in training yesterday looking at the photo in todays mirror, i hope its because they know he is going, if not we need a big clear out.

  • stan h says:

the result should not matter – he must go now

If Roy Hodgson had the least dignity and integrity for this football giant club and its fans throughout the world, he would have stepped down. But he is proving himself as a dwarf manager who just care how to lay comfortably on what he thinks might provide him with security, the supposed support he enjoys from the new owners and the players as he claims! But this dwarf manager doesn’t realize that his days are up. This dwarf manager doesn’t realize that the heritage of this club was build up on the fundamental of its fans, “YOU WILL NEVER WALK ALONE!” He has lost the real sense and meaning of what it takes to be a Liverpool manager. He said, “tt has taken me a long while to get to this elevated position coaching one of the best clubs in Europe.” Not exactly right Mr. Roy! This is one of the best clubs in the world not just in Europe and you can no longer be a disgrace and humiliation to its heritage and fans!

I would like to know if some of our fans actually thought this guy(Hodgson) would be the right choice just because he was’nt rafa.

The poll is showing Boas from Porto ahead at the moment. I’ll give you good odds it’s because the media has said he’s the next Jose and not because the people voting for him know anything about him.

we got some right thiko’s amongst us.

    • Jay Wright says:

I’ve gotta agree with you dj – this guy has just come from nowhere and all of a sudden he’s the best thing since sliced bread. I’m not saying that he ISN’T a good manager, but honestly, how many people even knew the guy existed a few short months ago!?

Same thing with Hiddink – if keeps saying that he wants to honour his international contract and even Abramovich couldn’t get him to stay at Chelsea, what makes people think that he’s going to suddenly have a change of heart and join Liverpool???

So much for “the most knowledgable fans in the world” – we’ve got just as much band-wagonners as anybody else
