Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt’s agent Rob Jansen has confirmed that he has held talks with Reds Director of Football Strategy Damien Comolli over a new deal for the Dutch international:
“Both Dirk and Liverpool have expressed their intention to prolong their desire to remain connected to each other. We talked about the future at Liverpool. He is making his fifth year and his eagerness to tackle the challenge is as large as it was in his first season. And Liverpool feel the same.”
Kuyt confirmed earlier this week that talks over a new deal were progressing.

Dirk Kuyt is and has been the player with the least footballing ability at our football club – even if you include Maxi and Ngog.
He has heart and yes he can can run but other than that he is useless. A complete waste of 9million and a big reason for our recent failures.
To offer this fool a new contract is a joke. I’m hoping the press offer him a job as he seems to spend more time speaking to them than doing anything of any note for the team.
…some may also say that he is loyal. Wouldn’t you be if you were that bad!!!

Closing down and pressure is often as important as putting the ball in the back of the net because you need to win the ball before you can use it.

He’s been a good servant of LFC, scored important goals and works really hard. Imo he’s a decent player I’m happy he want to stays
Kind of agree with Lee to a certain extent, I am a season ticket holder and over the last 2 years since we started to nose dive in the league you can hear how much dirk kuyt gets his name shouted in anger from the fans..since we lost alonso, riise, garcia and other players who can pull off a good cross or killer pass dirk kuyt seems to get alot of the ball but very rarely does anything good with the ball. He does run and close down alot but i would rather have someone who can beat a player and provide that killer ball.
I agree to a certain extent, we need these players and Kuyt. We need all the class those players brought, plus the energy and will of Dirk. If the better players was still there, he’d ghost in as the opposition have more to worry about as well as doing a similar job to Masch.
It is not a concidence that since this very average player joined the club that Liverpool have won nothing.
It is a coincidence, 2 yanks joined the club a year after Kuyt and slowly the team was dismantled.

Kuyt has been a great servant for the club and what i like about him he has done the best he can with slightly limited ability.
If some of our other players with better skills took a leaf out of Dirks book, i believe Liverpool would be a better side.
Kuyt has been played out of position nearly the whole time he’s been with us and still has performed above most!
I’m not sure where all this ‘Limited abilty’ stuff started from?
Hasnt he done enough already to prove he had an all round ability?
The same ppl who make these claims are the sAme who were on the back of Lucas and now Ngog..
As for Ngog he too is a good player with ability, in fact he is better than torres at holding ball up without losing it!

If you are saying because i think Dirk has slightly limited ability that i have knocked Ngog or Lucas you are wrong.
Regardless Dirk is not a complete footballer he does not have a lot of pace nor does he dribble well players and his shooting and passing are not brilliant.
If you do not call that limited then what would you call it.

Kuyt! He is good but not a “first team quality” good and especially not Liverpool first team. We need better players on the right wing. Players on the right wing should be skillful and can pinpoint a good cross, not someone who can run and chase balls. Maybe kuyt can be useful as a squad player or a LFC right back.

Keep him as a squad player, no problem. We only Have Suarez and Carrol as strikers and no other striker is gonna fancy coming in and being third choice. I think the emphasis is going to be on bringing in a left back and wide man with creative skills.
Please don’t offer him any new contract, get rid of him and get someome who can at least dribble and cross the ball. Save his weekly wages for somebody new. Get rid, eve Luton Town wouldn’t sign him!!!
Kenny, please get rid of Kuyt. With him here, we will not win anything. It is no coincidence that after Kuyt came, Liverpool do not win anything because our right wing is useless, plus now our left wing also have the same problem.
From what I watch form Liverpool’s match, we totally do not attack on the flank. Therefore, we can’t win against lesser team, which mean no trophy.
We need fast wingers that can beat defender can cross for our forward. This is also another reason for Torres to leave because of no contributions from midfielders.
As for forward, I think that Pacheco should be given chance. And, Ngog should be sold also as he is not good enough for Liverpool becuase he can’t score consistently.
