2 – Mauro Bressan (Fiorentina v Barcelona) – You can’t help but admire this goal, probably because it’s not every day…sorry every decade that you see a bicycle kick scored from this far out! I admire the players courage to even try it from this far out but to hit it with enough accuracy to hit the target and send the goalie crashing into the post is just sensational. 1 – Trevor Sinclair (Queens Park Rangers v Barnsley) – Surprised? Probably not, you may have been expecting it. Despite the quality of Bressan’s goal in 2nd place, this one by Trevor Sinclair for QPR is NUMBER 1. Why? Again, it was another one from outside of the area but Sinclair was a perfectly executed bicycle kick with his back to goal, plus to score straight down the middle with enough pace and power to beat the Keeper makes it the best overhead kick scored in Football. 1 of them is not even a bicycle kick, merely a volley. Djoerkaef was facing goal, so considered a scissor kick. Ronaldinho’s is similar to Berbatov’s goal vs Liverpool, so nice, but not as jaw-dropping. Only Bressan’s and Sinclair’s can match Rooney, so the article title asking Rooney to eat his heart out, is sensationalist and well.. not even true.
Liverpool wouldn’t mind having a couple of goals like that to help them get CLOSE to a champions league spot 🙂
Although Shreks goal was good & sideways on. The best overhead kick bar none Trevor Sinclair for QPR, also Rivaldo & Barnsey scored better overhead kicks & Dennis Tueart used to score those for fun
