Finally we have a pairing to strike fear into our opponents

|

I can’t express enough how happy I am with the signing of Luis Suarez from Ajax. The Uruguayan has made quite a name for himself and has had Europe’s elite trail him for a good while now. Upon being first linked with him I can honestly say I expected him to end up instead at one of the usual big spending suspects because he really is a gem of a footballer. Replacing Fernando Torres is no easy feat but if I had to choose a realistic replacement for the Spaniard from the World’s top forwards then Luis Suarez would have definitely been one of my top five picks.

For that reason, I’m ecstatic to have the World Cup star on board and I expect him to be a huge hit here in English football while also helping to erase the memory of the now departed Torres. On a positive note, signing two big name strikers in one day has the effect of relieving pressure off the both of them while they take their time to adjust to their new surroundings. It is a relief to have two star options up front especially when you consider that whenever Torres was having a bad game playing as the lone striker, we often looked incapable of getting goals from any other outlet.

I’ve seen some unusual transfer fees paid for players during my time but I have to say that the Andy Carroll transfer has blown them all out of the water. I really do rate him as a player and I believe that he will be Wayne Rooney’s long term strike partner at international level for years to come, but at the same time we have paid at least £20 million too much for the unproven no.9. He’s been impressive but has only done so for just over half a season in the Premier League.

That aside, we’ve been crying out for a player with his qualities for a while now, and I expect him to dominate defences aerially on a weekly basis while also providing an outlet to hold up play. All in all I’m looking forward to seeing our new look strike-force in action and in time I believe that the Carroll-Suarez partnership will see us into a much brighter future. When you consider that they’ll have players like Steven Gerrard and Raul Meireles supporting them, you can’t help but think that things will only get better from here for Liverpool FC.

Liverpool are in a far healthier position now with two hungry committed strikers rather than one over the hill injury prone, lying, arrogant sulking money grabbing t*at.

CSKA Londonistan have bought problems as much as anything else.

Peaked may be a better term than over the hill.

I feel maybe Torres is getting a hard time. from what i heard Fernando told the club he wanted to leave in the summer. we said hang on and promised investment. he didnt see this and at the start of this wondow he put in his transfer request. we asked him to hold back until the suarez transfer had been completed so they didnt hold us to ransom knowing we had that kind of cash. he did this but because its very near the end of the window he has come across badly.

@Kenny- But Torres said just 2.5 weeks ago that he wanted to see out his contract. What about his comments after signing for chelsea? What about his abysmal lack of effort for the past year and especially this season? Even players like Gerrard and Carragher realised this and showed it on the pitch. How is it that he plays awful all season and then suddenly single handedly wins against chelsea? Sorry but on this one I think the true Torres was revealed. No shame and no class. I think however we need to forget him. Lets welcome in 2 guys who are itching to play for us. I really do believe that in the long run this transfer window will be seen to be one of our best.
