Barcelona playmaker Xavi has stated he couldn’t believe the reaction his team received from Liverpool fans in a previous meeting between the two teams:
“I have never seen anything like the supporters there. We won 3-1 at Liverpool once and we were applauded off the pitch, and Liverpool were as well.”
The 31 year old has only heard good things about the English game:
“All the players who go to England to play come back saying wonderful things about it, the fans, the people. I think I would have liked it.”

Barcelona were awsome that night and totally deserved the win. They played some amazing football. Liverpool fans have always appreciated good football and that night we were played off the park by a superb performance from Barcelona. It was a pleasure to witness.
Voronin just because he spoke nicely about our fans and the respect shown, does not mean he wants to leave Barcelona who are a dominant force and play unique football which every team wants to play like, and leave players like Messi, Villa, Pique Puyol and come to us. He is a class player and i don’t see him leaving Barcelona anytime soon, he’ll probably retire there.
