Liverpool legend John Barnes believes investment in the playing squad this summer is crucial to Liverpool’s future title hopes:
“The only way to build on that is to invest in the club to get better players, a better squad, a bigger squad, because I don’t want the fans all of a sudden to look at this season and think next year we’re going to win the league. We can win the league if there’s investment but if that doesn’t happen and we see Manchester City threatening, Chelsea threatening, Liverpool will then maximise the full potential of the squad to finish in the top five. We want to push on, and for us to push on, even with Kenny, we still need more investment in the club to get better players.”
In an inteview today, Liverpool’s new Director of Football Damien Comolli confirmed he expects a busy summer in the transfer market.
