Parish frustrated at Liverpool rumours

|

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has spoken of his frustration at rumours linking two of the clubs brightest young stars Wilfried Zaha and Jon Willams with moves to Liverpool. He told the Croydon Advertiser:

“I have heard absolutely nothing about it. I don’t understand where these stories are coming from. Both of those players are under long contracts and are going nowhere. If Liverpool really are interested perhaps it would be better for them to pick up the phone and give us a call.”

Zaha and Williams were linked with the Reds by the Daily Mirror last week.

Who are you mate? Do you think the premiership is the be all and end all?

Real football is in the lower leagues. The majority of football fans support teams from the Football league. And when I say football fans I don’t mean the plastic Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelski and Manure supporters who only see their team on their 42″ inch TV.

Furthermore the English national team is made up of players that have come through the ranks at lower leagues clubs – Glen Johnson from WHU; Ferdinand from Millwall (and then QPR and WHU); Terry from WHU (before moving to Chelski); Ashley Cole made his name when on loan at Palace; Lampard from WHU; Joe Hart from Shrewsbury; Barry from Brighton; Defoe from Charlton……….. I think I’ve made my point.

Liverpool need to get their own house in order before worrying about British clubs with local players and true supporters as owners like we have at Palace.

If Steve Parrish says that our young contracted players are not leaving then they will not as our days of a hard-up selling club are over as we are now debt free and have rich local businessmen as owners who are life-long Palace supporters.

Worried about the new FIFA Regulations are we ?

    Baz,

Fair response. Glad to see that its all been from one idiot and the rest of the supporters haven’t joined in.
Good luck for next season (would say this one but seems a bit pointless to now..)

The only good part of the story is that they aren’t linked with MAN U. I, for one, would gladly take Liverpool winning the league over them. However, it won’t happen this year.
You can have Zaha and Williams for £15 million, deal?

  • hdeagle says:

I see that the once mighty Liverpool lost at West Brom where little Palace won on their last visit.

By the way Palace have just got two more of our rising stars to sign Pro contracts and so we must be doing something right.

Jon Williams is expected to make the step up to our first team squad sooner rather than later and join the likes of Zaha who recently signed a four and a half year contact as soon as it was offered as our new owners wanted to tie him down to stop him being poached by the likes of Liverpool who used to produce decent home-grown players of their own.
