THREE Potential Summer Signings for the Reds?

|

All reports on Monday pointed toward three players that Liverpool will potentially sign in the summer.  Of these three, two have been linked with the club repeatedly throughout the last 6 months and one which has never been a consideration for the club would actually be a signing to look into.

The first of these three is Ashley Young; a player who has been linked with the club again and again and again over the last couple of years but – given Villa’s recent poor form – looks more and more likely to happen, should the price be right.  Now, Young is certainly not my favourite player and I wouldn’t rate him as highly as even some of the other wingers that we’ve had over the years.  However, we face one problem: wingers are a bit of a rarity at the moment and when they are good – Ribery, Robben – you can expect to pay an absolute fortune for them.  So, unless we stumble across a top-class winger in the next few months, he looks about as good as it gets.  His record though, is fairly decent: in his career so far, he has managed 55 goals and almost 75 assists.  Average that out and Young is contributing to somewhere around 20 goals per season.  If we can get him for a reasonable amount and he can chip in with 10-15 assists and around 10 goals a season, then that would be something you could be happy with.

The second, being Charlie Adam.  He is a player who, it is quite clear, Kenny Dalglish admires greatly. With what he has achieved so far this season, it is not hard to understand that admiration at all, Adam has had a great year.  It is perhaps a little too soon to completely judge the Scottish midfielder but his one full season (and two part seasons) at Blackpool have been a resounding success.  A lot of people will point toward how much he struggled in the Scottish Premier League.  Fair point but then I would argue that he went on to score 18 goals in the Championship last year, assisting in numerous other goals, and helped Blackpool into the Premier League against all odds.  And he did all of this in a league that – as far as I’m concerned – is equal to (if not superior to) the SPL.

No! No! This is simply throwing money at problems in a vain attempt to eradicate them. there are much much more talented guys than Ashley out there and at a better age. As for the man from Blackpool? something similar methinks. Those two would be simply knee-jerk reactions and I am sure Comolli will have better sense than this! there ARE better and they ARE available….

Well, we did try and buy Charlie Adam in the January transfer window so one would assume he likes him and will try again in the Summer

  • sam says:

adam no, young yes, baines, no.

    we need;

    FABIO COENTRAO
    ALY CISSOHKO
    ASH YOUNG
    LAVEZZI
    MATS HUMMEL
DEIGO – THE ONE AT WOLFSBERG.

  • Bill says:

What people are failing to grasp is: Even with possibly better foreign players we still need English players to cope with Plonker Platini’s changes to what players you can and can’t employ, even though they break European employment law. So we have to go after even mediocre home grown players.

  • clinton says:

well in that case sterling would have to up his socks but i honestly think elia and affelay would be a steal

  • Kenny says:

    Kjaer,Enrique,Adam,Mouassa sissoko,Albrighton,Nzogbia and Wickham.

  • domshjygvrhnfg says:

    Ardan turan

  • Steve says:

Turan for me. He wants to come to Liverpool. Defenders wont know what has hit them when combined with Luis

  • i think we need someone that will assist in bringing life to our midfield and also scoring some goals, that’s number one,and i believe CHARLIE ADAM will certainly do that for us,then the other players that are also top midfielders can also come in.

  • nigel honeyman says:

adra turan is the man world class 15 mil is steal for him and he want to wear the red shirt he will go threw players like lighting so please sign this man is a must for lfc turan suraz carrol would be fightind for other clubs

  • Coley says:

    FABIO COENTRAO
    Charlie Adam
    Simon Kjaer
    Thomas Müller
    Adam Johnson

I do not know of the availabilty of all of these players but this would be my top 5. The next would be another Striker I would like Gonzalo Higuaín except his his recent injury makes me nevous. The payment amoutn for these players I also noted in making my top 5 we are not in football manager.

Sell some deadwood and keep working in the youth players next year. Get a champions league spot and focus our efforts the summer after next on 2 20 million cost players that will fill what is decided to be our biggest holes. If these 2 are bought early and adopt quickly I think we will be in a title race. I also believe that 3 years from now with these players, our up and coming players and 1 big name signing early in the 3rd summer will make us front runners for the title undr Kenny.

No problem for me with the players that mentioned, as long as they fit the bill. If the cost is too outrageous ( etc. Ashley young), i think Liverpool should look for elsewhere. Arda Turan & Keisuke Honda maybe fit the bill. And I begging Kenny to utilize the young talents Liverpool got. This is better than keep on looking for the players everywhere. Don’t you guys (Liverpool fans) think so?

  • eddie says:

    coentrao/baines
    cahill
    young
    adam/defour

  • Yong says:

    Sign honda and turan

  • red33 says:

douglas costa, ganso or guizman would be nice

  • chris says:

Well get rid of the deadwood then spend on quality not quantaty.
    1) Ashley young has the same type of movement as
Maxi always cuts in side, but with more pace. So a No for me. We need pace out wide and some one who gets to the bie line with a good delivery.
Naymar for me,does all the above and can be used as a striker. He is young and his re-sale value could be in excess of 50m.

    2) Charlie Adam Wouild be a good buy. But I would like to see Ganzo play with lucas in mid field with Steve in front.

    3) Baines good and solid defender. A yes for me

So we would have an attack that consists of
    Naymar,Lucas,Ganzo,Gerrard,Suarez, and Carrol
that attack would be capable of winning The PL and I beleive a match for the Barsa team

  • henry says:

for the 3 potential listed,i look out for adams ahead of the rest.we need to build the midfield with such calibre.and i think we should go in for the 4-3-3 fomation adaptd by benitz.surez is a utility player so he can be on the left flangs with kuyt @ right, carrol @ center.with adams, gerard, lucas @ the midfield.i ve dreamt abt this being sucessful.*YNWA*

  • steve says:

Yup agree with the article..Add to that Scott Dann and a couple more players for the bench, and the squad would look very good..
    Reina
    Johnson Carragher Dann Baines
    Young Gerrard Adam Dzudzsak
    Suarez Carroll
    Bench:Gulacsi,Skrtel,Agger,Kelly,Izaquirre,Lucas,Meireles,Elia,Marveaux,Kuyt,Bojan,Necid…
    YNWA

  • javed says:

honestly guys?u think those 3 ain’t good enough for us?adam is on the toughest midfielder around with a heart as big a football..the kop will adore him..ahsley young is one of the best english wingers around..and leighton bainnes is awesome at lesft back..wit his balls he gonna be good help for carroll..these are provern premier league players man!not affellay or elia…

  • Torach Denish Martine says:

What ever we think it’s up to our Anfield King,i belive as i’ve always written that, there are no better players for liverpool to buy in the summer than Charlie Adam and Ashley Young.Lookin at their individual contributions, work rate, talents, and are already playing in premiership.Foreign players are need time to adapt,Go get them Kenny.

  • varun says:

Buy Marko Marin, Mexes, Coentrao/baines, Cahill, Banega/Gago, Moussa Sissoko/Las Diarra, Turan, Young.

Sell Maxi, Jova, Cole, Aurelio, Insua, Konchesky, Kyrgiakos, Poulsen, Ngog, Degen, elzhar.
