A Star in the Making? Liverpool’s Adam Morgan

Liverpool U18s took revenge for their FA Youth Cup quarter final defeat by beating Manchester United in the FA Premier Academy League 2-1 yesterday. Again, the centre of attention was on a certain young Scouse striker Adam Morgan. The youngster has been on some incredible form for the Under 18s, and continued his impressive spell in front of goal, by scoring in his 10 consecutive match. It brings Morgan’s tally for the season up to 16, and he will be a crucial factor if the Reds go on to snatch the Academy League Group C title from Merseyside rivals Everton.

It has been a breakthrough season for Morgan. He appeared a few times for the Under 18s last campaign and featured as an unused substitute in the 2-0 win over Wolves in the FA Youth Cup, but it was uncertain whether the Reds youngster had the ability to step to the next level as a first team regular in the FA Premier Academy League and FA Youth Cup.

It is safe to say that Morgan has come through the test with flying colours this season, for as well as scoring 16 goals in total for the Rodolfo Borrell’s side; he scored in two crucial matches against Manchester United, both in the Youth Cup defeat and in the league victory yesterday. He showed himself to be a true Red with his five finger celebration against rivals Man Utd in the FA Youth Cup, and stated on his twitter page that he was “proud” of his celebration.

Primarily left footed, although he also quite strong with his weaker foot, Morgan has however come under the radar compared to the likes of Raheem Sterling and Conor Coady. The main reason for this is due to the fact he doesn’t really have an outstanding attribute, with the exception of his natural finishing ability.
