Balance is Key for the Reds, but where will it come from?

|

In this regard though, the question of balance rears its ugly head once again. Meireles playing left side is certainly not the solution to our problems and with Steven Gerrard touch and go for the West Brom match tomorrow, Raul could come in field to play alongside Lucas while Maxi Rodriguez comes in to play on the left hand side of midfield. Still, with Gerrard close to a return, a longer term solution to fitting both Meireles and Gerrard into the side without playing them out of position could be to consider a return to another formation entirely.

If King Kenny wishes to persist with both Carroll and Suarez up front, the 3-5-2 system could be the way forward. With a three man midfield of Gerrard, Lucas and Meireles, and Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel and Jamie Carragher playing as the back three again, it is a line-up which has worked  successfully in the past, especially against Chelsea away.

Lineups, tactics and formations have been very difficult to predict from Kenny Dalglish since he took over in January, and with his ability to surprise us with his tactical selections, he will no doubt have something up his sleeve for the West Brom game tomorrow afternoon.
