Liverpool legend John Barnes believes the Reds will need more than Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll to win the Premier League title. He told the Daily Mirror:
“The fans worship Kenny and he has done a good job – nobody else could have united the club and done what he has because of his relationship with the fans. But I don’t think Liverpool can win the title next year, even with Carroll and Suarez – it’s not enough. It’s a building block. They need two or three more players. I just hope fans don’t put too much pressure on Kenny to win the Premier League if there’s no more investment. The fans might think Carroll and Suarez will be enough to win them the title, but it’s apparent they are going to need more players.”
Barnes is waiting on what move FSG makes next:
“If the investment is going to be there, it could be a different story, but we don’t know if it is yet. They should give the job to Kenny for a long time, because you need the fans to rally behind the cause – and they didn’t do that with Hodgson, even from the start. Already we’ve seen what can be achieved if everyone supports a situation, and Kenny brought that straight away, just because of who he is.”
