Defour deals blow to Liverpool and Man U hopes

|

Standard Liege midfielder Steven Defour has dealt a blow to Liverpool and Manchester United’s hopes of signing the player, after agreeing a new deal with his Belgian club. Announced officially on the club’s website, the deal keeps Defour at Standard until 2016. Defour’s agent Paul Stefani had only recently stated that Defour would be looking to move in the summer:

“He is being watched by top clubs in England, France, Spain and Italy, and we may have a decision to make before long.”

Even on the official announcement on the club’s website though, Stefani stated that the new deal doesn’t actually change the situation all that much and that all bids for the player will still be “examined.” The new contract could however incerease the 23 year old’s asking price.

This week it is LFC fan and tennis player Caroline Wozniacki!

Defour signing a new deal’s just a parting gift to Standard Liege, if he’s bound into contract the price demanded can be higher.

And if not just a parting gift, he must be really impressed by the Belgian league medals. 🙂

So, let him sleep in the bed that he just made. There are plenty of fish in the sea! Let’s move on to players that really want to play for Liverpool and not those who prefer the Mancs…
