Kennedy: They could be here for years to come

|

Liverpool legend Alan Kennedy has praised the performances of both full backs John Flanagan and Jack Robinson. He told the Liverpool Echo:

“John was fantastic on his debut against Man City and has carried that on against Arsenal and Birmingham. He’s strong in the tackle and good with the ball. Jack came on at Arsenal and had Theo Walcott racing at him but handled him really well and timed his tackles right. It’s been a real test of character and they have both done excellently. It’s difficult because if you are given a chance as a kid and don’t take it then people turn around and say you can’t do it. It’s tough in the Premier League but they have grasped it.”

Kennedy believes both players have a very bright future:

“They have set very high standards and have to keep that going now. Kenny Dalglish knew what potential they had and to see two young local full-backs coming through gives everyone a lift. With the two youngsters alongside Jamie Carragher and Martin Skrtel we’re looking more assured defensively than we have done for a while. If they keep delivering the goods it will save the club a few bob. They could be Liverpool’s full-backs for years to come.”

This week it is LFC fan and tennis player Caroline Wozniacki!

  • Jay Wright says:

Robinson is definitely a few years off of being a first team regular. Flanagan looks a much safer bet and I wouldn’t be averse to him backing up Johnson next season (with Kelly moving back to his natural position of CB, where he could be a legit star)

  • Jack says:

My only worry about Kelly is his history with regards injury. Really hope it improves.
