Rumour Mill: Reds Aware that Starlet has Buyout Clause

|

The Daily Star is reporting that Ipswich striker Connor Wickham has a buyout clause set at £15million in his new contract. The paper believes that despite acquiring two strikers, in the form of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll in January, Liverpool are still keeping tabs on a player whom Director of Football Damien Comolli has watched several times. Wickham signed a new contract back in January keeping him at Portman Road until 2013 but he again signed a new deal this month, which according to the Daily Star, not only extends his contract to 2014, but also has a £15m buyout clause which Premier League clubs could activate.

got to pay up for the potential of these types of players, especially as the selling clubs develop them up to a point

  • Dale Marlow says:

Hate to say it, but even £15 million is way too much for what is “potential”.

  • magnumopus says:

Agree he doesn’t look like 15 million to me. Good, yes, but not that good yet!

  • Mish says:

£15m is the going rate for international-level potential now, I’m afraid.

The sooner we snap this lad up the better. He’s mustard and he’s a Liverpool fan, so he should be willing to run through walls for the club.

  • Davie says:

Go for him,we simply need players for now & the future. Along with other young players that we have Wickham could be part of that future.Fits the bill for the owners as well.

  • wazio says:

For 15mil we could get lavezzi an he is a hell ov player

  • addie says:

this would be a great risk buying him at 15M, i personally would go and buy soldado frm Valencia for an extra 5-7M he is a goal scoring machine !!!!

  • zahid says:

Im a huge fan of Wickham, ive watched him this season and hes been great and would be a welcome buy at Anfield. But i do think £15 mill is better spent elsewhere, i wouldn’t pay that much for him, 7-8 million maybe but no more……YNWA
