A Transfer Conundrum for King Kenny to ponder over

|

Liverpool’s midfielder Alberto Aquilani’s future has come under some doubt according to the player’s agent. The Italian star has been on loan at Juventus this season, but the first-option that the Italian giants had to sign the 27 year old expired on Sunday. It is believed that Juve are refusing to meet the asking price set by the Reds, opening the door for other clubs to pursue him. But could a return to the Reds be on the cards?

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has previously said that he would take Aquilani back into the fold – but no decision has yet been made. It should be noted that Roy Hodgson was the manager when Aquilani made the loan switch to Juventus – so the Italian may get a new lease of life under the new manager. The player himself may also feel that he has something to prove to Liverpool fans, because after making a £20m switch to Anfield from Roma, injuries and lack of fitness severely hindered that solitary season at Liverpool.

That all being said it appears that the player’s first choice would be to remain in his homeland and his agent Franco Zavaglia stated “Aquilani is a Liverpool player and will possibly return to England, but it is clear, that if there was an opportunity to stay in Italy he’d stay here.”

A strange statement in a way because the player is only currently on loan – so surely as things stands he will definitely return to Liverpool. Liverpool may have initially intended the loan to be with a view to a permanent transfer – but that situation seems to have fallen through. And if Liverpool continues to demand a high price for the player then he may have little choice but to return to England. Furthermore, Kenny Dalglish may decide that Aquilani is exactly the sort of player he needs in his midfield – but will have to ensure he is suited to Premier League football bearing in mind he has so far failed to impress. So should Liverpool give Aquilani the opportunity to return and prove his ability or accept that it would be better to sell him to an Italian club?

  • Yes. Quality player and worth a look in Kennys Liverpool team.

Aqua actually came good in the last 10 matches of the season bagging 5 assists and 2 goals. His fitness is know sorted out and he would offer some craft and a final ball to the free flowing attacking style Dalglish has implemented.

Another author writing for clicks with obviously no clue of what he’s writing about

“but will have to ensure he is suited to Premier League football bearing in mind he has so far failed to impress”

Ask any Liverpool fan and they will tell you in the games he played he more than impressed. You made assumptions based on us sending him on loan and came up with that – obviously he didn’t impress Hodgeson but Poulson and Konchesky did – exact opposite of LFC fans viewpoint

Here’s a hint to improve your writing – watch the team you are writing about

You are right man. The author is obviously sick of right words. Am a die hard Liverpool fan and i can say with all sincerity that Aqua was great player for us. The little chance he got, he proved this worth. He scored goals and played brilliantly. I acn never forgive the flop we had as a manager Roy Hogson for sending him out on loan and spending our millions in acquiring Poulson and Konchesky. Even Insua. This author is just sick…..

I would let him go but only for the right price – assuming after talking to Kenny he still wants to go, and if he does we’ll be substantialy richer but a quality player poorer. I think if he stays he would be an asset.

If he wants to stay at a stagnating club that’s going nowhere like Juventus, so be it, good riddance, he has the chance to come back to a club that’s on the rise and play under King Kenny and he point blank refuses to. The more he cries about wanting to stay at home, the more it just seems to me how unsmart he is. Insua wants to come back, because he is smart and he knows if he comes back he can shine once more under Kenny.
Juventus: 8th in January, 7th now
Liverpool: 12th in January, 5th last week
If that’s not enough for him to realise that we are getting more and more closer back to the glory days, let it be. He can finish his career in Italy and be another has-been at a has-been club like Juventus.
