A Winger That Liverpool Should Look To Avoid

|

In fairness, there’s every chance that his form suffered as he was still recovering from an injury he picked up the season previous, but his transfer would still represent a gamble for Liverpool. Despite flashes of his old self last season, what if he never again finds his best form?

Given that Liverpool need players who can cross the ball and provide Andy Carroll with service, I’d argue that Lennon isn’t the best option. He’s hardly renowned for his crossing and he’s somewhat inconsistent in the final third.

What’s more, there’s the £20m price-tag that’s been slapped unto Lennon’s head. That evaluation seems to me to be way off the mark, especially when you consider that Wigan’s Charles N’Zogbia is available for half the price and is arguably an equally good option.

As things stand, I’d much rather see Stewart Downing as a Liverpool player than Lennon. I just hope that Kenny Dalglish makes the right decision or that Tottenham price him out the market.
