It is difficult to not be excited by this young Reds star

|

What his goal against Rwanda shows me is that he has many different aspects to his game. Everyone knows his speed and ball control, and he demonstrated against Southend his excellent finishing skills, but such a goal on the biggest stage in Mexico, also shows his undoubted vision, flair and class. His physique and pace will inevitably provide comparisons to somebody like Theo Walcott, but I haven’t seen any efforts from the Arsenal star with the same vision and class from outside the box, have you?

I am probably getting a bit ahead of myself there, but one of the most assuring things that Raheem Sterling will start to replicate his talent to senior levels in the future is the people he is working with at Liverpool’s Academy. The youngster looks to have made an excellent choice by snubbing other Premier League sides to join the Reds from QPR a year and half ago, and I firmly believe that with coaches such as Pep Segura and Rodolfo Borrell guiding his early career, there can only be a positive outcome.

With Borrell and Segura knowing what it takes to become a great player, an Academy designed with a certain aesthetically pleasing playing style in mind to improve Sterling’s technical skills and harness his undoubted natural talent, there can only be a good future for Sterling in my eyes. Borrell and Segura have worked with players such as Messi, Iniesta, Fabregas and Pique, if they helped mould those players into what we see today; then surely we must harbour the same ambitions for Sterling?

you were saying gerardious ? this lad is unstoppable and will be unstoppable at any age, why ? because he is unique, its his low centre of gravity, it’s his small but very fast stride, its the closeness of his feet in running, the opposition can only guess which way he is going to go and by then its too late so they foul him, add to this a keen football brain, and finishing ability and you have a football phenonenon – the best bit is that the idiots cant coach it out of him its all natural ability.
