Sky Italia are reporting that Liverpool are still in contact with Italian club AS Roma over a Brazilian goalkeeper. After missing out on Doni, the Reds have switched their attention to his team mate Julio Sergio. Sergio has competed with Doni for a first team place at the Stadio Olimpico and has been the favoured goalkeeper for the last couple of seasons. According to reports, Doni rejected a move to Anfield because he didn’t want to take a cut in wages from €2.5m to €900K a year and while Julio Sergio would probably need to take a pay cut from his €1.3m a year salary, the difference could be made up by a sizeable signing on fee.
