The Umpteenth Winger Linked but is he worth a £11m gamble?

|

Back at club level, after his return from Lorient, Marseille manager Didier Deschamps opted to put the youngster out on loan once again for the 2009/10 season, this time to Ligue 2 side Arles Avignon. Playing regularly in the team, Ayew helped the side to Ligue 1, sealing back to back promotions for the side. Impressed by his performance for Avignon, Deschamps told Ayew that he would figure more prominently in his plans for Marseille for the 2010/11 campaign.

He signed a new three year contract before the season started and proceeded to become a regular in the side, getting himself his first hat-trick in the 4-2 victory over Nice. Overall, he scored 11 goals in 37 league games and was nominated for Ligue One’s Young Player of the Season. He was also awarded Marseille’s best player of the season, making him a hot prospect around Europe with Manchester United, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and now Liverpool all linked with the 21 year old. Ayew has also stated himself he is uncertain whether he will be staying at Marseille:

“Honestly, I feel uncertain about these reports on my future.”

In addition, a buyout clause of €13m (£11m) has also been reported so the young Ghanaian’s future may lie elsewhere, and with Damien Comolli’s connections in France, the press have put two and two together.

Let’s not rush things . There’s still a few weeks to go so another 156 or so wingers will be “linked” as all these guess-all pundits will have it!
Simply think of a winger and he is linked to Liverpool… What a load of tosh!

  • am tired of all this craps that mr,kenny thought he and comolli are toasting around, from january uptill date mr,kenny and comolli have link and contact all the players on earth for now all the players they’ve been going for is out of their hands and other clubs have snatch the players from their [kenny and comolli]reach it’s a pity, for sure i don’t see any top player coming these season to lfc because lfc is out of europe competitions why because the tothenham game that could’ve gave us [lfc]europe chance mr,kenny have failed to win that game which could’ve attract big stars to come to lfc.

      What planet are you on?
      O
Top players don’t want to play in the Europa league…its champions league everyone wants to be in. Thus that’s a NIB issue…KENNY performed miracle to get LFC to finish 6th after the start we had under Hodgson

As for LFC missing our targets…has any team in the EPL signed a single player…NO! Because the transfer window not open yet!

If Liverpool are going to gamble £11m on this guy then why not buy N’Zogbia for more or less the same price. Young proven Premier League player who will need no time to adapt. Ayew is a big risk so for the same money, Kenny and Comolli should be focusing on getting N’Zogbia instead.

  • Sam Wanjere says:

Why no mention of his father, the legendary Abedi Ayew Pele? Just curious. This kid’s deliveries from the flanks are something to watch. He plays for a very offensive-minded club, OM, and his play for Ghana has been consistently good. He’s also young, only 21, thus full of potential.
