Will this transfer philisophy work again for King Kenny?

|

The signing of Andy Carroll in January 2011 for £35m from Newcastle United has earmarked a shift in the transfer policy at Liverpool Football Club. The recruitment of Damien Comolli , the ex Spurs scout to support Dalglish can only be a positive signing for a club that has spent far too much money in recent years on quantity rather then quality. But it is important to note – Mr Dalglish signed a certain Alan Shearer for Blackburn Rovers in 1992, and the former England captain went onto score 112 goals in 138 appearances – so the omen of buying British is very much one that can prove successful.

The most successful sides in England this season have been built around home-grown talent, Champions Manchester United have used 14 British players in all competitions this season, with FA Cup winners Manchester City able to call on the likes of England number one Joe Hart, Adam Johnson, Gareth Barry and James Milner. Both Arsenal and Chelsea have blooded youngsters in Jack Wilshere, Kieran Gibbs and Josh McEachran to mention a few.

The problem for Liverpool is the best of the rest seem to have got stronger, Tottenham have brought through youngsters so too have Aston Villa and before Dalglish took over in January 2011, the Reds had not even considered using 18 year old full back John Flanagan or 19 year old Jonjo Shelvey, two youngsters who have gone onto feature in all of Dalglish’s games in charge and right back Flanagan in particular started the last seven games. Midfielder Jay Spearing and defender Martin Kelly have too enjoyed regular spells in the first team.

It is a pivotal time for the Reds, with new ownership and money to spend, Kenny Dalglish must continue to utilise the resurgent impact of his youngsters as well as buying the right blend of British talent. It is the spirit and adaptability of British talent which has been missing from Liverpool Football Club in the past decade, and with the 2011/2012 season marking 22 years without a league title, a change in attitude in the transfer market under Kenny Dalglish would appear to be the most suitable option in developing not only a challenge against the likes of Manchester United but also enforcing a legacy of home grown and British players which can continue to compete at the top level of European football.

The fees are a joke, I just read a story from one site saying how well Henderson played against Liverpool at Anfield this year and how he dominated the midfield.
Luka Modric dominates the midfield in every game that he plays, he cost 16mill 4 million less than Henderson. English players are over rated and I can guarantee Henderson wont be as good as Modric because he doesnt possess the natural ability of Modric.

Sandro (6), VDVaart(8), Lennon(1), Bale(5), Huddlestone (2.5)and Modric (16) 6 regulars from spurs midfield cost £38 million—–£2mill less than Aquilani and Henderson together.

Before you mention age or timing all these spurs deals where done whithin the last 3 years and they range in age from 21-28 years of age with VDV(28) and Modric(25) the 2 oldest.

    Its a joke this market

I think dat’s the best way to put it the market is indeed a joke. If not, why should Carroll cost about 30mill while Suarez costs 20mill. Mayb d answer is ‘it’s d english league,so it has to favour the english man’.

Its all becourse off the homegrown rule! I rather have carrol on the pitch than any lesser player when the rule kicks in! If you wanna win u have to have the best talented players and those do not come not cheap!

  • Frozen says:

Can someone please lecture me. This Jordan h. Is he realy that good? Is he better than Wilshere? I feel liverpool still need established midfielders bcos Jordan just as Carroll seems to be of the future may be also just of the future. Next season may shock liverpool if they don’t apply enough sense in their buyings I’m sure we all know that d Cocktail always taste better I mean having a mixture of players from other countries. And if u want to be like Barca ‘all Spanish’ remember the English boys are not as skillful as the Spanish players. I think this is a known fact. YNWA.

HAHAHAHAHAHA You are a bloody joke mate, Luka Modric, have u seen his stats? For 16m£ he has given you 2 assist and under 3 goals! Thats a bloody discrace calling him top notch! Hendersen has 4 assist and under 3 goals in a lesser side! Thats must meen hes worth 32m£ in he eyes of yours right? The only good buy u have done is van deer vart! Bet your inly a bit yelous of us and that no good players want to play for you, i mean this modric u fancy so much , reacently told the papers he want to play elsewere HAHAHAHAHHAH in your face, dreamer.

Listen against Liverpool Modric scored 1 and assisted Skrtel in the other as we did the double over you. BOTH GAMES HE GOT MOTM.

    Judge stats on MOTM performances

We have no strikers who score, therefore we as a team score less goals which is why Modric hasnt got great assist/goals ratio…..the chances he creates and the strikers miss arent calculated in your stat making…..not every team has a Luis Suarez who takes every chance, we certainly dont.

A quick example we had 30 shots on goal against West Ham, 14 where created by Modric and 3 shots on goal from him thats 17/30 involving Modric……………… and we drew 0-0….which is why its unfair to judge him on how our strikers take the chances, he is a deep lying midfielder

  • Will says:

u dont have strikers u say? Jermain Defoe,Peter Crouch,Roman Pavlyuchenko. And the last one wants to leave your side and is your best goalscorer, no just face the facts, u dont invest anything, players want to leave and you wont evva again play Champions L

  • trey otiri says:

anyway have u heard dis saying dat good players play better when people around them are good as well so dnt eva compare modric and henderson
henderson doesnt have the calibre of players playing around him like modric does nd still performs like that lets watch and see wat becomes of him
