Are we being way too optimistic? No, not this time

|

Henry seems cool and calculated, but he also believes in the fans. He cannot fail to believe in ours. He was witness to possibly the biggest red movement as the anti ‘George and Tom’ campaign effectively made their stay untenable.

This summer we have spent well, hopefully, with Adam, and Henderson adding youthful dynamism to an already strong looking midfield. Add a fully fit Gerrard, Carroll and the new darling, Suarez and hopeful optimism now leads to genuine hope.

Can we get carried away? Well, a couple more decent signings and why not? Even if we are done for this window, the standard of our youth coming through is as good as it’s been for a long time. Man U won the league last season with more than a few average players in their squad. Are we as good as them? 3-1 suggests ‘on our day’ yes we are. I’ve had 20 odd years of ‘on our day’ and have had enough. We can deliver. We now have the right people in the right places. A new stadium may not please traditionalists who would prefer to stay at our spiritual home (I think we all would really) but money talks and we can’t hand a £25million a season lead to Man U, especially with the new financial regulations.

I am optimistic, the future’s bright. The future’s Liverpool F.C.

If we keep buying just overrated british players there is no way that we’ll win the title any time soon. We need someone like Aguero or few more foreign gifted players if we have any chance to win the title.

    • Chirag says:

Bekim have you looked at the stats for the players we’ve signed. They actually stack up pretty well.

Where do you suppose we fit in a player like Aguero? Besides, players like Aguero will only sign for us once we’re back in the champions league!

Kenny and Co know what they’re doing, so with comments like “If we keep buying just overrated british players there is no way that we’ll win the title any time soon.” are you saying you don’t trust Kenny and the team?

Show the team and the club your backing. Don’t judge the signings either way until at least mid way through next season and even though I won’t judge them til the end of the season.

Be a part of the positive attitude around the club and get behind them. That’s what they need!!

    • Ahh Ted says:

And which big club have you managed in your time?
LOL!! Another one who just repeats what he hears. Pathetic!! At least come up with something original.

  • Matt Ro says:

Perfectly said, Chirag. There is reason for optimism at the club. More so this year than in a very long time. The owners are top class and they are the foundation of the club. And nothing works without a foundation. This will be a slow & steady rebuilding of the greatest club in England. That said, our aim is a top four finish & I believe we have the right owners, players & plan to do it. Keep the negativity to a minimum for there is every reason to be optimistic on Merseyside. YNWA

  • Heres Hoping says:

Roy Hodgson caused quiet optimism? Yeah, not from me and all the reds i know. We wanted KK right after Rafa! I new Hodgson would be a disaster. But can’t blame him…Useless board were the problem for hiring over the King in the first place.

  • We Liverpool fans are ( Optimism) the newcomers are almost welcome now it’s our King Kenny Dalglish job to use the ( DIAPASON) For any tittle race YNWA

I continue to hear that we ‘overpaid for average players’, but we haven’t. We have bought players who are tried and tested in the EPL. Yes we could have bought foreign players but there is a risk that they will find it hard to adjust to the EPL, which is risk in my books, if we are get anywhere near a Champions League spot. The players we have bought have filled key positions where we have been caught lacking in the past. They also give Kenny flexibility in terms of strategy and formation. None of the players we have bought are so called ‘big names’ but that’s fine becoz they have a desire to play for LFC. If I take anything from the signings so far is that, for once there is a key strategy at get a ‘TEAM’ at LFC where every player at the club is eager to put on the RED jersey and lay it all on the field for the cause.
