Whenever I see Liverpool youngster Jack Robinson play, I feel I am looking at a player who could play for the Reds for many years to come. I know that is a big statement to make but for me the Reds youngster has all the attributes to succeed at the highest level.

For sure, there is no need to get carried away after a meaningless friendly against a second division Chinese side in Guangdong Sunray Cave today, but when he came on in the second half, he was once again one of the stand out performers, and looked one of the most assured players on the ball despite his age.

I have to keep reminding myself he is just 17 years of age as physically he has developed very well over the last year or so. He has always possessed a great deal of pace but he also looks to have the strength to push players off the ball and come away with possession. He rarely ever gives the ball away too which is a great asset as a full back, especially in attacking situations.

One instance that showed both his strength and tackling ability was when he put in a crunching tackle by the corner flag against a Guangdong player mid way through the second half. Of course, the Reds did concede two goals late into added time but both came from the right hand side and were not Jack’s fault. Andre Wisdom, a year older than Robinson, who played at right back, was strong in the air, but he was caught out of position a couple of times during the second period showing he maybe further back in his development than Robinson.

    Wisdom actually looked really bad. Poor touch and dribbling skills. It was quite shocking!
