The Daily Express is reporting that Liverpool will up their bid for Arsenal full back Gael Clichy to match Manchester City’s offer, but they fear they have already lost out in the race for the Frenchman. City tabled a £7million bid for Clichy last night, a bid accepted by the Arsenal board. Liverpool had previously offered £5million for the player and are willing to up their original offer but the lure of a sizeable wage hike at City and Champions League football, may mean their renewed bid for Clichy may have come too late.

well if we can’t beat sunderland in a fight, how the hell can we see off citeh?
FSG’s strategy hasn’t quite worked for young, jones, wickham, marveaux, payet, adam, dann, downing, chamberlain and the list goes on!! lookin like the only thing we’ll have come the start of the season is FSG’s principles!!!!

Agreed. We’ve spent how long trying to beat Blackpool down from £9mil to the £8mil offer for the average player Adam????

Its another usual summer of non strengthening, another season ahead without wingers or left backs.

ManUre can do it, De Gea, Young, Jones. So it is possible with all this agents on holiday crap.

We are back on Monday for training. Kenny said he wants all the transfers done for then, well maybe it is. Henderson ! The new Kuyt – Great.

I personally dont rate 18yrd old wickham at 13 million nor Adam at anything over 5 million downing is ridiculous @20 million we were in for jones and young who both opted for united nothing what so ever to do with the money we had on the table just united were more attractive. with regards to Payet well i dont know enough about him or even if we are serious about Dann, but im prepared to see how things pan out after all its the first full window the new regime are involved in so maybe a bit of patience and realism is required until the window closes then we will know how commited the owners really are

people keep on saying be patient 20years for league title is more than enough patience, the adam deal is a long draged out saga,if we pay 20 million for downing then the white van with straight jackets are needed,FSG keep on going on about long term which good but we do need 2/3top players that can play right now,

bored of hearing about all these players we’re trying to get, especially the charlie adam saga. i would tell blackpool where to stick it as they are mucking us about. not like adam is the new messi is it?! as for the rest, it seems like the owners want to get rid of the deadwood before buying. seems sensible enough to me. they want to run it as a business (which is what i want) not the play thing of a sugar daddy. how on earth they get rid of big earners like cole and jovanovic i have no idea. if they want to sit around and see out the rest of their contracts there isn’t much we can do.
