The pair have cost us millions

|

After the midfield we have the defence. We still need a left-back although one could argue that with Robinson and Flanagan have to be forcibly fast-tracked into the first team we have cover. Konchesky and Aurelio are still there. I’m sure we could get rid of Aurelio and keep Agger and play him at left back. This clearly depends on his injuries and maybe this is playing into the whole moneyball and statistics method that is being adopted by FSG. Kyrgiakos is a mammoth of a central defender but with Carragher pace will be lacking in the centre.

Skrtel at times always has me wondering if he is a liability with a lack of concentration occassionally creeping into his game. Maybe its time we made a move for Dann or Johnson from Birmingham and see if we can get them on the cheap. Shawcross is young with Premier League experience and home grown which fits in with the quotes coming from inside Anfield.

Beyond the above and with a few additions we will have the squad depth to challenge on all fronts. With no Europa League to play for this season could be the one where we can push into the top four again especially with Arsenal crumbling from within themselves.

I don’t get everyones dislike for Aqua man. He never had a pre-season with us – he played 9 games because of fitness issues and El Hodg decided to loan him out for the next season. I reckon he’d be a good player to keep and definitely has more talent than say Charlie Adam does.

Agreed about Aquilani – it’s funny that of all the players mentioned though, the one that actually got the opportunity to flop more than any of those other names (even when playing with reserves!!) and earning more per week than the rest of the them is not mentioned…

it’s because he had talk to the media that he’d rather sit on the bench in italian club than play on the field with liverpool in anfield

  • steve says:

why do people keep slagging off AQUALANI,the same people who slagged off LUCAS i expect.i hope he gets a chance to show what he can do.

    recycled story from last week

Don’t blame Rafa for Jovanovic, blame Hicks, Giilette and Dodgson. Jovanovic would have been used by Rafa in a totally different way than scratch me chin. The guy became so disillusioned that even King Kenny could not motivate him.

Not sure what you are trying to say other than stating the obvious over Aquilani & Javanovic (which we all already know, they are over salaried and under acheivers. Hence the club have released the serb on a free) Aquilani we need to keep until we get a decent price(he cost us £20M).
As for Clichy when city came in and offered 3 times the salary we could (remember i just said Javanovic’s wages where over the top) where do you think he would head. Nasari wants United no one else. Now Charlie Adam is simpler we either give in to BLackpools rip off demand or walk away. Now you make your own mind up which we do.
I personally,(while frustrated like most red fans at not seeing mega names roling in from all directions) remain realistic and trusting of KD & DC getting players in. We still have over 50 days left in the window. Arsenal, Chelsea & Spurs have not brought anyone in yet. So it obviously isnt as simple as some would like.
Stay patient and keep the faith. Let other supporters winge.

I am quite happy to have Aqua back. In his last 6 games for us he scored 2 goals got 4 assists and 2 man of the match awards. He is a bit lightweight but he needs to be given a chance,

Jovanovic has got to go, on a stupid amount of money and no where near the quality of Liverpool. Also Ngog, poulsen, konchesky, degen, kyrgiakos, cole should be out the door asap

  • stan howard says:

i like rafa but we must blame him not only for buying aquliani but for not using the money to buy the striker we desperately needed, this along with the useless hodgson who still never bought the said desperately needed striker cost us a place in europe last season.

  • Dubrogue says:

S**t piece. Blaming Rafa for all the crap that was done by Cecil Purslow. Jovanovic was given a contract after Rafa left. Aqua is a class player and again was shipped out by that twat Cecil. Cole, Konchesky, and Poulsen too. All sanctioned and given deals by Cecil. Wake up and smell the roses or don’t post online.

You need to stop your ‘tyrade ‘against Rafa Benitez! He like other LFC recent managers were forced in to a few unfortunate decisions by not having the proper backing of management(owners;and the present ones need to prove themselves soon !)! You r in a position where u can open up and make derogatory remarks about RB! WELL u need 2 b remindeed that the VAST MAJORITY of LFC fans were right behind ‘RAFA BENITEZ!!!

  • Jackson says:

I agree with @DaveWestAus and @ Dubrouge . . . . Every manager has there own tactics . . . RAFA HAD PLANS BUT COULDnt fullfill it bcoz of the backroom staff of Mr. Purslow and the Yanks. “WE HAD TRUST IN Rafa. . . . Bt Now we Trust In King Kenney “

  • m kop says:

I never understood how could someone think Jovanovic will be a success at Ainfield having played only in Belgium or in even weaker leagues.

I can understand Rafa’s Aquillani mistake, he is quality player but with poor injury record.
But with Liverpool now having enough cover he might even prove to be very good addition to the team.
