This Long Search Has Been A Very Frustrating One Indeed

|

For me though, this explanation belies the facts. Former Arsenal defender Gael Clichy was adamant in an interview that he had the straight choice between Liverpool and Manchester City, and opted for City because of Champions League football. In addition, Liverpool’s pursuit of Jose Enrique has been well documented and it was only a couple of months ago when former Red Phil Thompson was stating on TV that the Reds had sealed a £15million deal for the Spaniard. Despite this apparent revelation though, the move for the player has stalled.

The lack of movement in regards to Enrique has been put down to Newcastle’s unwillingness to budge on their high asking price, and it is clear that the Reds have been looking at other options before returning to Enrique. There have also been suggestions that Kenny Dalglish is not keen on the player because of his suspect defending.

So when will this long search for a left back come to an end? With no real news, it could be some weeks yet before there could be any real movement on this issue. Damien Comolli has stated he wants to offload some players before the start of the season, and perhaps once this is done, there could a left back coming in. For now though, a long wait for a left back looks set to become an even longer one.

I feel as if Kenny is working on serveral deals to see what is most likely to come to fruition. Baines, Enrique and Cissokho.
