Understandable Frustrations as Dani Begins to Lose Patience

Dani Pacheco has expressed his frustration about the lack of first team opportunities at Liverpool. With the purchases of Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam, on top of all the other midfielders already at the club, the Spaniard is justifiably questioning where his future lies.

Pacheco has had a frustrating couple of seasons since making his debut for Liverpool in 2009, and it must be said that at 20 years of age, he now deserves the opportunity to get some solid first team appearances.

Currently, his progression at Liverpool is blocked by the plethora of players who can play in his best position. Dani prefers to play in an attacking midfield/withdrawn striker role, and it is unfortunate for him that the Reds are well overstocked in this position currently with Steven Gerrard, Raul Meireles, Alberto Aquilani, Joe Cole, Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson and Jonjo Shelvey all capable of playing the role.

Even if Aquilani and Cole do depart the club, and we even assume that Adam and Henderson play more withdrawn roles in midfield, Pacheco still has Gerrard, Meirles and Shelvey in his way. Shelvey, in particular is a favourite of Dalglish’s, and has already shown promise in the first team, which makes it unlikely that Pacheco will be able to displace him in the pecking order.

If we look outside his favourite position back on to the wing, there are greater possibilities for Pacheco, but still there are great obstacles in his path for first team action. Dirk Kuyt, Maxi Rodriguez and perhaps Jordan Henderson would be ahead of Dani on the right, while Stewart Downing will be Liverpool’s first choice on the left with Maxi as is probable understudy. The wide left position maybe his best chance of first team action if Downing is sidelined, but even then Dalglish may opt for other options.

Pacheco is a decent/good player but the fact that no premier club is fighting to get him on loan should tell you everything. He is a luxury player that most premier teams cant afford to have within their style of play. Plus the argument that he wasnt given an extended run doesn’t wash either, a few ineffective displays or poor results and the calls for his head would have deafening. Just face it, some players need to move on, a few years back nemeth was the striking bees knees and where is he now?? da la valle was another who was mourned as a massive mistake to let go but he can only start as sub for a prelim europa cup game for fulham. Just trust the people who watch him day after day, week in week out, they know his potential the best, not the majority of computer managers who catch the odd clip on youtube or sky. Sometimes it just isnt meant to be.

The only reason Dani Pacheco is not in Kenny’s plans is because he is not British. Dani is a technically more gifted player than the likes of Henderson and Shelvey but it is clear that Kenny is only interested in British talent. Dani needs to go out on loan to a Premier League club like Norwich, Swansea or Wigan.

i’m with gaz here! he hasn’t cut it under two liverpool managers (can’t bring myself to count rub-roy as one) and @eric, in case you’ve forgotten, he WAS at norwich last season and even lambert doesn’t want him back! time to move on and use the fee toward buying unquestionable potential in Jeffren, can’t believe nobody’s taking a very small risk for what amounts to loose change in today’s market FIVE MILLION!!! come on damien, go for it!

Definitely agree with Eric on this…the fact that Dalglish is dying to sell a guy like Aqau or Meireles and keep a piece of trash like Josephine Cole shows his commitment to passport over talent. His hard-on to pay 3 times the value for anyone with a Brit passport while ignoring players of MUCH MUCH MUCH higher quality that could be had for a much better price shows that he has lost the plot and is still stuck in the 80’s. And we will end up mid table for his trouble…

Can’t say I agree with you Eric. Henderson was very impressive the other day and he has shown that he can match the skill, pace and physicality of the Premiership. I for one have always wanted Pacheco to make it but he clearly isn’t cut out for the Premier League. I even doubt he’d make it at one of the top clubs in La Liga. Doesn’t look like they’re crying out for him either. Gaz, you’re spot on with your assessment on the likes of Nemeth, Dalle Valle and the countless other ‘talents’ we’ve rightfully sold.

If Liverpool is keeping Joe Cole to take the place normally young players should have no wonder he wants to leave.

personally i think there is enough games with cup and league cup for these players to shine and to get there chance and to make an impact and with the strengh in dept liverpool have for the first time in yrs players now have to prove there good enough to wear the red shirt !every memeber of the squad this season will be fighting to get a place on the starting 11 and even the subs bench thats the way it should have always been .there was to much complacnecy in the squad for players to worry about losing there spot now they all have to be on there toes !ynwa
