Liverpool legend John Barnes believes that Bolton defender Gary Cahill would be a fantastic signing for the Reds. He told talkSPORT:
“Cahill is a fantastic player and I’m surprised there have not been more noises made about him. There are a lot of clubs looking for centre-backs and he’d be a fantastic signing for Liverpool. Another striker would be nice, but defensively is where we really need it [strengthening]. And Cahill would be perfect.”
Cahill has been linked with Liverpool and Arsenal but nobody has made a move for the 25 year old as of yet.
This week it is former LFC WAG Jennifer Ellison!!

Nobody has made a move for the 25 year old as of yet,………BECAUSE….he’s another hyped up and, overpriced english average player, and sorry John, you haven’t a clue when it comes to scouting, same as your managerial pursuit!
All I can say is that, I’m really glad that John Barnes does NOT manage Liverpool!!!
He is severely underrated, top defender who’s excellent on the ball. Carragher, it’s time to sit down and take a break.

If we gain CL qualification and look to buy to improve for next season we can attract world class wingers and strikers, Cahill would be a good buy for the homegrown rule. He is a solid CB
We could add someone like Subotic with CL football but not before.
If anyone answers me with Scott Dann, I would have agreed and thought he was a better buy for £8 – £10 mil.
But, he missed half a season with a hamstring?!?!? We have Agger already for injuries. I can’t remember hearing of Cahill injured or even suspended (sure he has) he is solid.
WHEN CAHILL WIL JOIN ARSENAL THEN KK WILL KNOCK HIS HEAD.
If we are confined in England only, I think Cahill is the best option, but go to eastern side of English channel, at 18mn, there are half a dozen CB’s available better than him.
& yes, had he been that good, wouldn’t have been at Bolton at the age of almost 26.

John Barnes also sang the same praise when we signed Cole, Poulsen, Konchesky, Ngog, El Zhar, Jancovic, Lucas, Degen and a host of many others. He was also extremely generous in his glowing report of our youth academy players, namely Insua whom he predicted would be the best left back LFC would have for a long time to come.
We all know what a great soothsayer John Barnes is. Enough said.
