Why we shouldn’t be getting on Jordan’s back

Jordan Henderson got another start for Liverpool on Saturday against Arsenal when many fans thought that he would miss out from the starting lineup. But Kenny Dalglish kept faith in his summer signing from Sunderland who to my surprise is already being dubbed a bad signing in some circles.

I find it funny that people are already judging Henderson after only two Premier League games. He has not done terribly wrong in either games and if anything he has kept our midfield ticking especially against Arsenal with his 53 successful passes, no one in a red shirt got more than that against Arsenal.

At times it is easy to forget about the work these ‘non-flashy’ midfielders do and rather we remember the long raking cross field passes or the rocket shot from the edge of the box. There is clearly a place for Henderson in the Liverpool side right now as we await Steven Gerrard to get fit again. I have no doubt that when Gerrard is fit again, he will take over from Henderson. But it is refreshing to know that we have someone of the quality of Henderson in our side to step in when he is needed.

Give him some time and you will see an even better Jordan Henderson as he continues to work with great players around him and a top class coaching staff who have confidence in him.

that’s typical of our supporters nowadays, they only notice if you can hit a 70 yard pass and take on 5 players. Ronnie Whelan used to take stick as no one noticed him in games but he kept everything simple and the ball moving.

I think suppporters need to stop judging and start supporting maybe then we’ll see further improvements from players.

I honestly think that he’s a average player, nothing personal against the kid but lets be honest if he was foreign then we could have got him for around the £7m mark IMO

He’s decent. Good pace, movement, control and great stamina (up there with Dirk)…just needs a bit of work on the end product and he’ll be a complete player. Feck the cost, will he be a long term starter for LFC? Definitely…good signing KD

btw, way too many aerial balls for Andy C…the boy is v.decent on the floor and as he showed yet again yday has a lethal left peg…once his team mates work this out and mix it up a bit for him, he’ll be an absolute monster for us

The “supporters” getting on his back after 2 league games are a disgrace to the club. I don’t understand where this mentality comes from?. It’s definitely a modern thing. At the end of the day we should get behind all our players instead of scrutinising every second they are on the pitch. It’s funny how you don’t hear much hate and bile for former scapegoat Lucas any more.

What Henderson is missing at the moment is confidence. He is young and seems a bit overawed by playing for Liverpool. A similar thing happened to Ian Rush when he first joined the club. Henderson needs to forget about who he is playing for and get stuck in a bit more, play like he did at Sunderland. If he does this the fans will warm to him. Long term I think he will be a success.

henderson was class last night, he was lively and kept moving along the right side. His interaction with his team was fantastic 1,2s all night it was great to watch.

Hes improving with each game and after the way he reacted to the yellow shows hes a class act.

    • steve says:

you are being sarcastic! 🙂 henderson has been poor the last couple of games! but, yes give him a chance.
anyway. notice how we’ve not been scoring whenever suarez (and meireles) are not playing! that’s something to be concerned about!

how stupid is kenny dalglish buy this fellow who just a bad player. he not worth 20 million! really a waste money dalglish!

  • stan howard says:

henderson is one of the few players who can turn defence into attack in an instant – idiots lay off him, he is just what we need as with the fiorst goal last night, man of the match for me.

  • tayor07 says:

  • m kop says:

    I see your point.

It’s not Henderson’s fault Dalglish and Comoli decided to spend 20 mil. for him.
