Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge believes Kenny Dalglish is getting himself involved in some “psychological warfare” with referees. He wrote in his column for the Liverpool Echo:
“I don’t have a problem with what Kenny said. He was only doing what Alex Ferguson has been doing for the past 20 years. It’s all part of the psychological warfare. By talking about being hard done by you raise awareness and plant seeds in people’s minds. The hope is that you’ll get decisions going your way further down the line. Does it work? Just look at the decisions United have got down the years. What managers say is bound to influence officials.”
Aldo believes however that the Reds only had themselves to blame for losing against Stoke because of their profligacy in front of goal:
“Mark Clattenburg has come in for a lot of criticism but Liverpool only had themselves to blame for losing at Stoke on Saturday. We had enough chances to win two games but we were wasteful in front of goal and in the end those misses proved very costly. I actually thought in general the referee had a good game. I can understand why Clattenburg gave Stoke their penalty. Jon Walters did go to ground easily but Jamie Carragher put his arm around him. Sometimes you get away with that type of thing. Certainly if that same incident had happened at Anfield there’s no way a penalty to Stoke would have been given.”

Just look at the decisions United have got down the years. What managers say is bound to influence officials – you must be joking! How many times should Carragher have been sent off against United?
wake up kid.
have a look at the amount of peno’s given at old trafford against united.its a joke.
Georgio….
Seriously?? Can you really say that UTD have not over the years accumulated at the very least 10-15 points per season based sorely on Fergie influencing the referees?
Dont go into denial please…
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.Mr Aldrige it is Sir Alex to you. Please show some respect to the greatest manager of our time.
I’m a liverpool and i agree Ferguson is a great manager no doubt, but it still doesnt destract from the fact that he manages to win a lot of extra points because of his influence.
Would UTD have won so many titles if this wansnt the case?????? I think not.
Also, no matter how good ferguson is, King Kenny is better as already proven. Who the hell wins the premiership with Blackburn????? you have to be a legend to do that!!!! end of.
Please, being a united fan does not mean you should only accept good things coming out from the club. Was Ferguson not banned for five matches when he made his comments on the match official on the match btn united and Chelsea?
Catch a grip you idiots;
Last season alone Man Ure got off with a pen against W Brom which would have put the score at 3 nil – even Neville admitted it – Neville nearly broke the guys leg! Blackpool was another when you stole a win and then youse got a nothing penaly against West Ham (theyre now relegated) – its actually ridiculous in fact… Yes Carra should have been off for Nani challenge – how many times has Rooney got told off not even a yellow never mind a red cos hes english striker – wise up
My god you scousers are such a bitter rubbish talking bunch. I’m so glad your team is on the down. Bye Bye Liverpool!
Another glory supporter are we???? go get a real team!
What decisions are you talking about?? 10-15 points? What about the ones that went against united? I just don’t get liverpool fans. Why are you bitter about our 19 titles? At least we are not as CLASSLESS as your team lying down and giving chelsea assists to win the 2010 title.
Aldridge talks so much crap its started to build up above his upper lip.
Next years our year la….YAWN
It’s funny seeing all these so called UNITED fans on a Liverpool site……………..lol
What’s even funnier is your ex players obsessed about Man United. What a bitter man Aldridge is, still sore that Liverpool are not the most successful side in England anymore.
