According to the Guardian, despite Liverpool not getting a first option on Lille playmaker Eden Hazard, they are hopeful that their dealings with the club over the loan of Joe Cole will give the club an advantage over Arsenal and Real Madrid next summer. The Reds are paying a portion of Cole’s wages and they believe that this contribution will mean they have a developed a good relationship with the French club and that future negotiations over any deal for Hazard would be heavily favoured in the Reds’ direction. Lille General Manager Frederic Paquet had earlier told the Independent that there was no first option agreement with Liverpool for Hazard:
“There is absolutely nothing in that. There is no link between Joe Cole and Eden. There has been no discussion. We know Eden Hazard is interesting some of the best clubs in Europe, but he is here and part of the project.”

Yes this will come in handy when Liverpool submit a bid of 20 mil. + Cole and add ones and Real, City, Barca or whoever comes in with 30 mil. bid and if they do offer someone in exchange it will be younger player who is worth some money.
Liverpool is being played like a fool, firs with Juventus selling them Poulsen and getting Aquillani free of charge for a year, than by Milan also free Aqua, now by Lille.
And Lille didn’t even have to try, Liverpool came in offerring free player and his wages!
Next year LFC is paying Bellamy on loan at Cardiff , like City did before they have found a fool to take him off their hands.
