No one can deny, Liverpool are a team that ooze history and class, dominating the 80’s and more recently adding Champions League victories to their name, but over the last couple of years, for a number of reasons the scousers have become less of a force, and after the ill-fated tenure of Roy Hodgson, failed to qualify for any European competition and called out to King Kenny for help.

The legend that is Dalglish answered their call, and since he took over, firstly on a temporary basis and then permanently, their fortunes have slowly been reviving, and they have begun to resemble the team they once were.

This however, is not enough for some Liverpool fans, who feel that not only should they be challenging for a top four place, but should be making a play for the title. Realism has to be called upon at this point, and the acceptance that undoing the damage at the club will not happen overnight, and to finish in the top four this season would be a remarkable achievement.

It is not that Liverpool do not have quality within their ranks – in players such as Suarez they have real class, and seasoned professionals such as Reina and Carragher, but the persistent injuries suffered by their inspirational skipper Stevie Gerrard have effected them more than perhaps they would have realised, and his drive in the centre of the park, not to mention goals have been sorely missed.

This coupled with the departures of a once prolific Torres and the influential Xabi Alonso – not to mention the failure to really replace said players has meant that Liverpool have struggled to find their rhythm in seasons of late.

I think there are a newer generation of Liverpool “followers” who have not quite grasped what it means to be a “supporter”, there is a massive difference. Many of the fools who criticize are not particularly clever and a good few are fans of other teams trying to wind up Liverpool supporters.

Fact is that the team under King Kenny have gradually gotten better and more cohesive and are beginning to play like a team. The highlight of the weekends victory in London for me, was the sublime pass from Bellamy for the opener. It was a pass that was made by several million people watching as the play unfolded, but so often in that position a player will be selfish, how satisfying that Bellamy was able to show his class.

nah,i dont agree.with the money keeny got,if he fails to achieve a top 4 finish then thats failure whetehr he is alegend or not.most people think becoz he is a legend,he is immune to criticism.if it were roy who had made those buys and adopted the illfated british only policy, most of you would be calling for his head saying he is not fit to coach such a great team and failed after receiving such huge amount of money from the owners. now becoz its kenny the legend, everybody is supposed to support him and be patient and see no evil.kenny messed up,he could have bought aguero instead of carol, mata instaed of hendo.i tell u we could have won those games we drew at anfield.now,he prioritises downing over maxi, hendo over bellamy and we lose or draw matches weare supposed to win.if it were roy,ppl would be mad with him.a mistake is a mistake, failure is failure no matter who u are.let me say i love kenny,i grew up idolising him,he stands for liverpool and would cry if we lose whereas others like rafa, roy, houlier wouldnt becoz its just a job for them.but he must then not onlybe a red thruy and thru, but make tactical decisoins and player purchse decisionswhich enable the team he loves to move forward.u cant tell us to shut up and be patient when he got 100m and didnt buy wisely.noways.

nowwatch wathapened at chelsea when kenny made footballing decisions by playing maxi over downing and bellamy over hendo.we won and the team was moving well.now for u to say we need to support mediocrity becoz its kenny involved,i refuse.kenny must wake up in january and buy soldado, montolio, samba, kagawa and we can finish in the top 4 or even win it,why not? there is still everything to play for.we dont have european games,we are less busy and can mount a challenge in the second term and win games.u say i am dreaming? thats why we dont win every year,we always regret at the end of the season after realising thatwe could have won the lig.it will now be a case of,if only we had not drawn that match,if only….

Teesomething you finished playing championship manager yet? For one comolli buys the players not kenny. Also they’ve bought 9 players since taking charge, and suarez, coates, Enrique, doni….sorry if they’re ‘british’ only I’m the pope! Also league rules state you are supposed to have 8 homegrown senior players in your squad. We’ve got the minimum 8! We’ve really gone overboard signing British players haven’t we? Aguero joined city for stupidly huge money and champions league football (neither of which we can offer) in the SUMMER for more money than we paid for Carroll in JANUARY, do you understand the difference of when somebody is available to buy? And unfortunately Mata also wanted big pay and champions league football and chose chelsea over us, be his mistake when we finish above them! And the whole maxi or downing bellamy or Carroll that’s what kenny calls tactics and i trust his decisions on which attackers to use against which defenders as except the spurs game we’ve played good enough to have picked up maximum points so far, just being let down by bad luck (hitting woodwork ALL the time) and bad calls from officials (sunderland, stoke an united). That’s with a new squad just getting used to working with each other. So I’m sorry no its not because kenny is a legend an no I wouldn’t be moaning if it was Roy I’m looking at things thinking everything is coming together and starting to click and we will PROGRESS from a team that limped to 7th and 6th in the last two seasons that having spent 35million NET in TWO transfer Windows is looking as good as anybody.
