RAHEEM Sterling scored a wonder-goal during the reserves 1-1 draw against an experienced Arsenal reserve side at the Academy earlier in the week.

Sterling produced a fine opening-goal for the Reds, before Abou Diaby later equalized for the Gunners.

As reported in the Liverpool Echo yesterday, the game prompted delight from Coach Rodolfo Borrell who stated he was happy with his youngsters response after losing the previous fixture to Ajax in NextGen Series semi-final 6-0,  last week:

“I think we can play a lot better but the important thing is we bounced back as a team after the heavy defeat to Ajax. I wanted a response in terms of team effort and I got that. The aim was to raise the spirits and we did that against a very difficult side,” said the former Barcelona coach, before adding:

“Raheem scored a good goal for us and I think it was a fair result. We did well to be focused all the time against a team unbeaten in their last five games.”

I've produced work for many football media outlets & am now happy to run a major site on the club I love - providing our fans with a voice, and to bring as much information and news on the club as possible.

Why do always get the next big thing then stifle their progress, no wonder we never really see their potential come to fruition.Right here we have a player who has had a million rave reviews only to be never given a chance to fulfill his potential, that is why we lose so many ” next big thing” players as they simply cannot wait forever to be given a chance. For god’s sake play him in the first team, he will be like a breathe of fresh air for suarez to play with.

Now that CL is truly done and dusted and UEFA is locked KD might be well served to let some of the younger players get some time. Might also do some good for some of the underperforming first teamers to drop back and spend some time with the reserves.
